  4. 4. AHMP Prerequisites<br />2003-05, Nobles County completed first All-Hazard Mitigation Plan<br />Update began in 2009<br />All cities in Nobles County participated<br />

AHMP Planning Process<br />July 2009: All-Hazard Mitigation Planning Team organized and reviewed existing plan<br />December 2009 : Planning Team met to ID local Hazards<br />March 2010: Planning Team discussed specific mitigation items <br />March 2010: Cities participating in NFIP met with SRDC, EM & Watershed Districts to discuss the NFIP and requirements to maintain compliance, as well as potential mitigation items<br />The Nobles County All-Hazard Mitigation Plan is intended to protect residents and infrastructure from natural and human-caused hazards, while continuing to foster a healthy economy and environment by maintaining fiscal responsibility and quality services.<br />

Emergency Services</li></li></ul><li>AHMP Mitigation Strategy<br />EXAMPLE<br />A.1.a.3 Harden utilities, require local electrical distribution lines to be buried where feasible.<br />A.1.a.4 Use road design and living snow fences to help control snow on roadways.<br />A.1.b.1 …Construct at least one new safe room or improve warning system in one community each year.<br />

AHMP Plan Maintenance<br />Asking you to recommend the County Board submit the Nobles County All Hazard Mitigation Planupdate to HSEM & FEMA.<br />The AHMP is NOT regulatory!<br />County Emergency Management responsible to implement & update w/in 5 years<br />FEMA requires “a process by which local governments incorporate…the mitigation plan into other planning mechanisms such as comprehensive or capital improvement plans…”<br />That’s where you come in!<br />
