  2. 2. <ul><li>Location: Near creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. Also found common out of river mouths.
  3. 3. Names of some marshes: Florida, Everglades, Louisiana, and California. </li></li></ul><li>Description<br />A marsh is a type of wetland which is distinguished from other wetland varieties by having an assortment of grasses, reeds, and sedges, without large bushes and trees.<br />
  4. 4. Saving the wetland <br />Soil scientists spread material dredged from shipping channels over shore areas to help rebuild marsh areas. <br />
  5. 5. Importance<br />Control floods, purify water, and home to a variety of wildlife.<br />
  6. 6. Animal Life<br /><ul><li>Amphibians: Grey tree frog, green tree frog, southern leopard frog, gulf coast toad, marbled salamander, small mouthed salamander.
  7. 7. Birds: Green-winged teal, gadwall shoveler, blue-winged teal, pintail, wigeon, scaup, mallard.
  8. 8. Wading birds: common egret, snowy egret, roseate spoonbill, wood stork, white ibis, great blue heron, green heron, anhinga.
  9. 9. Nesting birds: Barnswallow, tree swallow, kingfisher, bachman’s warbler, orchard oriole, yellow breasted cuckoo, purple gallinule, black skimmer.
  10. 10. Raptors: Osprey, bald eagle, peregrine falcon.
  11. 11. Mammals: Nutria, muskrat, marsh rabbit, mink.</li></li></ul><li>Plant Life<br />Sedge, sphagnum, grasses, and cattails.<br />
