  1. 1. The Sino-Japanese War By Jayla L.
  2. 2. Time Period <ul><li>The war took place in August 1 st, 1894 – April 17th, 1895.
  3. 3. In 1885 the Li-Ito Convention was an agreement the allowed China and Japan to put their troops in Korea. </li></ul>
  4. 4. How the War Started? <ul><li>Nine years later after the agreement Li-Ito some Koreans started to rebel against the official government so China and Japan sent in troops.
  5. 5. After the job was done Japan refused to withdrawn their troops from the then Chinese controlled Korean area.
  6. 6. The war then began as a result on June 8 th 1894 </li></ul>
  7. 7. Battle of Yalu River <ul><li>The Battle of the Yalu River took place on September 17, 1894.
  8. 8. It was the largest naval combat in the first Sino-Japanese war.
  9. 9. The Yalu River is located on the border between China and Korea.
  10. 10. However the battle was fought at the mouth of the river in the Korean Bay. </li></ul>
  11. 11. The Harbor of Weihaiwei <ul><li>In the beginning of 1895, Japan worked to take the harbor of Weihaiwei when the Chinese naval forces retreated behind it's reinforced position.
  12. 12. However, the reinforced position did not hold up to the ground troops that the Japanese forces had redistributed.
  13. 13. After a twenty-three day battle Weihaiwei fell to the Japanese on the February 12.
  14. 14. From there the Japanese went on to take over posts that governed the seas to Beijing. </li></ul>
  15. 15. The Battle of Yingkou <ul><li>The battle of Yingkou was the last major battle of the war.
  16. 16. Yingkou was a land battle between the forces of Meiji Japan and Qing China, fought outside the treaty port town of Yingkkou Manchuria. </li></ul>
