The complete guide to windows 7 shortcut keys

  1. 1. The complete guide to Windows 7 Shortcut KeysPosted: 27 Sep 2011 09:23 AM PDT There’s been a lot of talk recently about use use of shortcut keys in Windows 8, primarily because 90+% of the people who will be using that OS for the next few year won’t have access to a touch screen. What this has brought home though is just how many people still reply on the old shortcut keys, and I’m not just talking about Ctrl+X/C/V here. With this in mind I thought I’d publish here the definitive list of all Windows 7 shortcut keys as taken from my Microsoft Press book, Troubleshooting Windows 7 Inside Out.General Shortcut KeysTo do this Press this keyCopy selected icon(s) CTRL+CCut selected icons(s) CTRL+XPaste cut or copied text or item(s) to CTRL+Vcurrent folderUndo your most recent action CTRL+ZDelete selected icon(s) to Recycle Bin DELETE or DELDelete selected icons(s) without moving to Recycle BinSHIFT+DELETERename selected icon(s) F2Extend selection through additional icons SHIFT+any arrow keySelect all items in a document or window CTRL+ASearch for a file or folder F3Display properties for selected icon ALT+ENTERClose program in the active window ALT+F4Open the shortcut menu for the active ALT+SPACEBARwindowClose the active document in multiple CTRL+F4document programShow Flip 3D ~WS+TABSwitch between open programs ALT+TABCycle through open programs in the order ALT+ESCthey were openedCycle through screen elements on the F6desktop or in a windowDisplay the shortcut menu for the SHIFT+F10selected itemOpen/close the Start menu CTRL+ESC or ~WS 1
