Birmingham's Cube Transforms Skyline With Exceptional Mixed Scheme
1. WELCOME TO THE CUBE The Cube is a vibrant new landmark destination that has transformed Birmingham’s skyline, heralding a new dimension in commercial and residential design. Comprising exceptional apartments, Grade A offices, exclusive shops, water side café bars, a boutique hotel and spa, Birmingham’s first panoramic rooftop restaurant and a state-of-the-art, fully automated car park, The Cube is an inspirational mixed scheme in an extraordinary location. Animating Birmingham’s canal side, the building has been designed by world-renowned architect Ken Shuttleworth in collaboration with Make architects and opens up the thriving Westside district of the city. Discovery in the courtyard Four floors of café bars and retail space nestle in the central courtyard of The Cube. Inspired by the idea of an enchanting jewellery box, this public space paves a new route through the city - an inclusive area, brimming with exciting gems such as the iconic national art installation, ‘The Lovely People’, commissioned by renowned local artist, Temper. Inspired working environment Five floors of Grade A office space have been configured around the central courtyard, with each floorplate providing approximately 2,000m². The floors can easily be divided to accommodate up to four tenants apiece, whilst each ‘zone’ has separately controlled electrical and mechanical services. Tenants also benefit from a central visitor waiting area with concierge reception and access to the basement car park.
2. Luxurious living Unlike many new residential projects, The Cube’s twisting geometry has allowed for a wide range of different residential designs. There are 244 apartments spread across 9 floors ranging from high-level, three-bedroom duplexes to small city ‘crash pads’. One half of the building contains buy-to-rent apartments with buy-to-live units in the remaining half. All apartments feature spacious living areas with large picture windows offering panoramic views across the city or out through the courtyard. More than half of the apartments have already been sold off-plan and many of these people have now move in to The Cube’. For more information contact Sue Donaghy or Mark Evans at Knight Frank on 0121 200 2220. Sky-high experience At the pinnacle of The Cube awaits a 2 storey boutique hotel with dedicated drop-off reception and lobby at street level. Accommodating approximately 52 rooms with some of the best views of the city, this exclusive hotel will feature its own spa and pool, enticing visitors from around the globe. Its crowning glory will be a skybar and rooftop restaurant. The first of its kind in Birmingham, this upper level opens out from the top of the building with floor to ceiling glass panes that not only offer an unrivalled view of the bustling city but make The Cube a beacon at night. Open to the public, this rooftop restaurant invites everyone to see Birmingham as it’s never been seen before. The restaurant will also offer guests the chance to book exclusive private dining spaces and function rooms.
3. State-of-the-Art Technology Deep underground The Cube has left no stone unturned with its state-of-the-art, fully automated underground car park. The three-storey garage has a 339 capacity and features the UK’s largest stacking system as well as the country’s first palletless transport technology. Widely recognised as one of the safest and most secure public car parking systems available, it is also a forward-thinking, stress-free approach to parking and is one of the most energy efficient systems available as it reduces the need for the constant illumination and ventilation required in standard underground multi-storey garages. Sustainable Design Rated ‘Excellent’ under the BREEAM system of environmental performance, The Cube doesn’t compromise on eco-design when it comes to shaping breathtaking architecture. Every detail has been considered including the sustainable use of materials to reduce wastage and the introduction of passive features that optimise its ecological behaviour. The building far exceeds industry standards for air tightness, whilst a separate mechanical and electrical plant building services the Cube, to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
