While this option does require students to study independently, it doesn't leave them totally deserted and comes with a wide range of benefits. Known as Distance Learning, this learning method involves broadcast lectures or classes conducted by correspondence or over the Internet, without the student's needing to attend a school or college. One school that offers this option is Centennial College. Here is a look at specific benefits that students gain: Choice: At Centennial College, students can choose between online learning and Print- Based Correspondence. The former gives them a classroom feel through online discussions with fellow students. It also sees students use an online forum to complete assignments. The, latter meanwhile, allows students to contact their instructors, but studying is completed independently through physical course materials that are mailed to the student at the beginning of the semesters. Scheduling: While programs are typically completed within six months, students can compress the time to suit their schedule. The amount of time they spend studying is totally up to them, as is the time when they study (night owls, rejoice!). Additionally, the requirements are not as strict and students are typically given a range of due dates when the work needs to be submitted. Lastly, students can also choose the courses that best fit in their schedules Flexibility: Students can literally attend class anywhere they go — from vacations, to bus rides and during their work break. There is no rigid classroom schedule that hinders students from tending to other responsibilities. Networking: Through online programs especially, students have the opportunity to interact with peers and professionals from all over the country. As such, they may benefit from making career connections in other cities and provinces. Money: Students save money in a number of ways. Firstly, tuition for students who partake in this option within the School of Continuing Education is less than those who attend class on campus. Secondly, while students may be required to buy some textbooks,

Thirdly, students save travel money, whether by having to buy less gas or not paying as much for public transportation. Selection of Professors: Distance Learning enables students to learn from some of the most prestigious professors and guest speakers in each field. These instructors are available through email for those taking online classes and by phone for those taking Print-based correspondence. Effective: Online classes are just as, if not more, effective at teaching students when compared to the traditional classroom style of learning. While it is not for everyone, those who are comfortable studying on their own should consider this option. Author: Klaudia View Source: For More Information Visit us at Centennialcollege.ca
