The Computer Systems Technician in Ontario is open to anyone who has completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or has mature student status (19 years or older) and has completed the following academic requirements: English Grade 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or is willing to take the Centennial College English Skills Assessment for Admission; and Mathematics Grade 11 M or U, or 12 C or U, or equivalent (minimum grade required) or is willing to take a Centennial College Engineering Math Skills Assessment for Admission. It is worth noting that qualified college or university graduates with a background in networks gain direct admission into semester three of this two-year program and receive their Computer Systems Technician - Networking diploma in two semesters. They also learn cabling standards and appropriate design parameters for various types of media and topologies and be introduced to wireless technologies as well as a variety of high-speed Internet access options. As a real life component, they are also faced with challenges involved in creating a network design that meets the needs of the users of today’s LANs and WANs.
