Threaded boxesproject

  1. 1. Name: _____________________________ Block: _______________ Threaded Perspective Boxes TASK: You will be creating a composition of at least (6) one-point perspective boxes from varying viewpoints and then using a “thread” of your choice you will connect all the boxes by “piercing” the cubes. Be creative with your interpretation – maybe the boxes and thread aren’t boxes and thread at all! STEPS: Participate in a demonstration of perspective line and shape drawing Complete perspective drawing take home activities as practice Brainstorm and research possible “threading” concepts (at least 4). Go beyond the obvious, be creative, this is your chance to be as crazy and inventive as you want! Choose your best design and begin drawing (in light pencil), choose a vanishing point, and ALL cubes must be drawn to that one point! Use a regular pencil, begin rendering your drawing, making sure that all cubes are drawn in correct perspective and make sure to use your reference images when drawing your “thread”. Use colored pencils and/or markers to add color to your drawing. Make sure to consider the different values that the sides of cubes etc. will have! Last – be conscious of time – we will only dedicate TWO full class periods to this project. Remember: ALWAYS CONSIDER the ELEMENTS of ART and PRINCIPLES of DESIGN!!!! This project will see how well you can apply perspective drawing skills with observational and value drawing skills we have learned so far this year. You will be creating a composition of one-point perspective boxes and “thread” them together through the use of creative design concepts.
  2. 2. Compositional Sketches: In the spaces provided plan out your composition. Think about where the boxes will be threaded, how they will interact and where they will be placed on the page.
  3. 3. Compositional Sketches: In the spaces provided plan out your composition. Think about where the boxes will be threaded, how they will interact and where they will be placed on the page.
  4. 4. Name:______________________________________________ CLASS:______ Element and Principle Self Portrait Reflection What do you think the most successful part of your piece is and why? (2.5 pts.) What do you think you could do better next time? What might you change? WHY? (2.5 pts.) How did you choose to “thread” your boxes? How could you improve it? (2.5 pts.) Discuss your composition. How did you incorporate and show and understanding of the elements and principles of art? (2.5 pts.)
  5. 5. Name:______________________________________________ CLASS:______ Threaded Cubes RUBRIC Composition/Design A work of art needs to have an effective and dynamic composition. Does your piece utilize the entire page? Is it interesting to look at? 10 pts. – Exceptional 9-8 pts. - Excellent 7 pts. – Satisfactory 6-3 pts. – Needs Improvement/May resubmit 2-0 pts. – Unacceptable/Must Resubmit Craftmanship/workmanship High quality work of art require a strong work ethic. Did you use each class period to its fullest potential? Was there care and quality put into your work? Does your piece meet conventional standards for craftsmanship? 10 pts. – Exceptional 9-8 pts. - Excellent 7 pts. – Satisfactory 6-3 pts. – Needs Improvement/May resubmit 2-0 pts. – Unacceptable/Must Resubmit Application of Elements and Principles You were asked to create a composition that demonstrates your knowledge of art elements and principles. Did you pay attention to and illustrate them effectively? 10 pts. – Exceptional 9-8 pts. - Excellent 7 pts. – Satisfactory 6-3 pts. – Needs Improvement/May resubmit 2-0 pts. – Unacceptable/Must Resubmit Execution of Concept/Originality of Idea Does your design show a clear and thoughtful representation of an idea? Does the execution aid in the delivery of your concept? 10 pts. – Exceptional 9-8 pts. - Excellent 7 pts. – Satisfactory 6-3 pts. – Needs Improvement/May resubmit 2-0 pts. – Unacceptable/Must Resubmit Execution of Perspective Drawing Skills Did you effectively render your cubes in perspective? Are they all drawn to the same vanishing point? Is value considered when they were rendered in color? 10 pts. – Exceptional 9-8 pts. - Excellent 7 pts. – Satisfactory 6-3 pts. – Needs Improvement/May resubmit 2-0 pts. – Unacceptable/Must Resubmit
