FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
Scholarship Awards Application
1) Can SPM school leavers apply for the Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’
Scholarship Awards?
A. No. Applicants for the Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards
must possess at least a STPM qualification.
2) Can students doing Diploma Courses/off-campus courses/twinning
programmes/franchised courses/distance learning courses from Local
Public or Local Private Universities/ Colleges apply for the Bangsar
Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards?
A. No. The Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards are for
students doing full-time on-campus courses only.
3) Who is eligible to apply?
A. Only Malaysians without the means to finance their studies are eligible to
apply i.e. family household income not exceeding RM 4,000 per month.
Non-Malaysians are not eligible to apply.
4) When is the application period?
A. 15 January until 30 April 2016.
5) Are the Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards open to
students from all universities?
A. No. The Bangsar Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards are for those
prospective undergraduates reading for full-time first degree courses at
Malaysian public universities.
6) What is Bangsar Village’s criteria for course selection?
A. The criteria are as follows:
i) Undergraduate courses undertaken and completed in Malaysia only;
and
ii) Accreditation by MQA (Course accreditation can be verified at MQR
portal: www.mqa.gov.my); and
2. iii) Preferred discipline – Engineering, Maths, Science and Technology.
7) Is there an age limit for application?
A. Yes, the age limit is 20 years.
8) If I have any enquiries, is there any number/person that I can contact?
A. For more information/enquiries/assistance, you may email
scholarship@bangsarvillage.com and we will attend to your email within
two (2) working days.
Policies
1) When can I expect to be notified of an interview if I am shortlisted?
A. Before 31 May 2016. Interviews will be conducted at Bangsar Village’s
office at 69-2, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
2) What if the student fails to complete the programme or to obtain the
undergraduate degree, would he/she need to repay Bangsar Village?
A. Yes, you will need to reimburse the total amount disbursed by Bangsar
Village.
3) Will I be bonded to Bangsar Village upon graduation?
A. No, the only criteria is that you should try and further this ‘spirit of
assistance’ to those that may find themselves in a similar situation once
you are able to.
Disbursement of Scholarship Awards
1) How are the funds from the Awards disbursed?
A. The funds will be disbursed through the Bursar of the respective
University or College after the Agreement Letter has been signed,
stamped and returned to Bangsar Village Management office.
2) How do I know if Bangsar Village has sent the money to the University or
College?
3. A. A copy of the payment advice will be sent to you after the disbursement
has been made.
3) Can I request for a direct disbursement of the funds from the Award into
my personal account?
A. Only the funds for the accommodation and living allowance shall be
disbursed into your personal account on a monthly basis.
4) When and how do I renew my Scholarship Award?
A. Scholarship Awards are renewable on a yearly basis subject to
satisfactory performance. You are required to submit official copies of
current/latest examination results/progress reports for each successive
year. The Scholarship Award shall be automatically terminated if you fail
to make the required submission. In the event you wish to defer, you must
submit a request to sufficiently explain your reasons for deferment
otherwise Bangsar Village Management reserves the right to withdraw
the Scholarship Award.
5) Can I submit result transcripts downloaded from the website of my
University or College?
A. No. You are required to submit a certified copy of the “official” result
transcript issued by the relevant University or College.
6) What is the minimum grade required for the maintenance of Bangsar
Village Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Award?
A. Bangsar Village expects its recipients to maintain a CGPA of 3.00 and
above.
7) If I fail to meet the minimum requirement for renewal, would Bangsar
Village Management terminate my Scholarship Award immediately?
A. Bangsar Village Management will assess each renewal on a case to case
basis therefore you are advised to submit your result transcript along
with a letter explaining your reasons for not performing well in the
examinations. To support your position, you can submit a progress report
of your performance from your Dean/Lecturer.
4. Termination
1) Under what circumstances would Bangsar Village Management terminate
the Scholarship Award to a student?
A. Bangsar Village Management reserves the right to terminate the
Scholarship Award if:
i) The information furnished in the student’s application or during the
interview was untrue, misleading or incomplete; or
ii) The results are unsatisfactory in any one semester or one year of the
course; or
iii) The student is found guilty of serious misconduct during the course;
or
iv) The student wishes to discontinue or abandon the course before
completion; or
v) The student wishes to withdraw from the Award scheme for whatever
reason(s).
