Introduction
Experienced dentist James Frizzell, DDS, has owned and managed a Niagara
Falls, Ontario-based dental practice since 1993. As a member of various
professional organizations, Dr. James Frizzell, DDS, provides patients
throughout the Niagara area with a depth of dental services, including
treatments for cavities.
A cavity is a permanently damaged section of tooth. The damage begins
along the tooth’s surface before spreading to the inner tooth. The
surface of a tooth can be damaged in a variety of way, ranging from a
sugar-heavy diet to a bacterial infection. As the opening deepens,
additional layers of a tooth become impacted, resulting in severe pain
and infections. If left untreated, total tooth loss is inevitable.
Cavities rank among the most common health conditions in the world.
Early signs of a dental cavity include spontaneous, unexplained tooth
pain or pain when biting down. The tooth may also be sensitive to hot or
cold temperatures. Sometimes, cavities are visible with black or brown
stains or pits along a tooth’s surface.
In some cases, cavities can form without any noticeable symptoms,
which is one of the reasons why regular dental appointments are so
important. Individuals who believe they may have a cavity should visit a
dental professional as soon as possible.
