Interact Club Installation/IU Day
14 members from all the Penang Rotary clubs attended the Date: 31 July 2010
membership seminar last Sunday. The difference this year was that rather than Venue: KDU, Bandar Utama
be a presentation, the seminar was a round table discussion on membership
development. The discussion focused on what was successful in 2009 and what District Governor's Official Visit

of suitable speakers. It was decided that once a quarter these clubs would get President's Fellowship

people to attend from the local community but did not follow up so the opportunity
was wasted. There are very few female members in our sister clubs in the North. DISTRICT EVENTS

English was not my father’s first language. And like a lot of second language
learners, he was an avid reader. He especially liked Conrad and Melville and
read their bodies of work not once but several times during his life. As a young
man, it was not uncommon for him to drop my mother off at her home after a
date and head for a neighborhood diner, book in hand, to read and drink coffee Duty Roster
until the night waitress closed up and shooed him home. Later in life, he added
