  2. 2. Effective (Good) Learner -Use strategies and knows which strategies they are using. (metacognitive) -Get feedback -Get a good example -Problem solver -Never give up on a challenge (believe in yourself) -If you don’t know what to do, you ask for help (figure it out) has ways to get out of the pit. -Give ideas -study -Make connections -set goals and reach for them -Knows where they are, knows where they are going, and how they will get there. -makes good choices -Participate in activities -Look at criteria -Their own teachers -Can say what they learned. -on task focus (you must know when you are not paying attention) -visualize your learning -assessment capable (knows what they need to work on) -ask questions -Knows mistakes are okay, you learn from your mistakes. You are stuck, in a problem, don’t know what to do. -depressed, frustrated, angry, no hope, sad, stressed, irritated, scared. -a little bit of struggle and challenge is good. The most learning is happening. -When you are stuck what do you do? -What do you do when you are in the pit? -Have a plan. -Ask for help. -Use strategies -schema
  4. 4. Are you an effective learner? See if you can see yourself in the mirror. Say, “Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the most effective learner of them all?”
