  • Ask the students” What is the role of Chemistry to Society and Industry? We will answer that differently. Let’s form three groups:Group one will be the oral/ auditory Group2. Group two will be the kinesthetic group3. Group three will be the visual group
  • 1. For the Oral/ Auditory Group, make a YELL!!! Make a one- phrase yell that tells your answer.2. For the Kinesthetic group, make a Pantomime that tells your answer.3. For the Visual Group, make a sculpture- show a human sculpture that depicts your answer
  • Make the students take down notes using the Double Journal Entry. Students will write the specific words/ lecture given by the teacher on the left side of the notebook. On the right side, students will write or draw how they understand the lecture. You have to pause after discussing each point and its details to give students time for filling up the right column with how they understand the specific point
  • Do you need to study chemistry? Many of you are asking why you have to take chemistry as a part of your formal study. Can you honestly give the correct answers to the many questions in your mind? Do you know how to answer questions such as ; What is the relationship between the substances we eat, drink or breathe, and the possibility of developing lung cancer or high blood pressure? Why was papaya become more popular as a skin whitener? There are many processes you may have observed being done, but you do not understand. You will come to comprehend many more things when you study chemistry.
  • Chemistry deals with these questions: What is matter made of? What is its the composition and internal structure? How does it behave when cooled, heated or mixed with other elements? Chemistry try to answer these questions in their work.
  • Distribute the photocopied learning materials.Have the students take notes on the relationship of chemistry to other sciences and its contribution to the progress of society and industry using bulleted notes. ( See page 6-7)
  • Chemistry and its role to society

    1. 1. ORAL/ AUDITORY GROUP MAKE A ONE- PHRASE YELL!!! THAT TELLS YOUR ANSWER KINESTHETIC GROUP MAKE A PANTOMIME THAT TELLS YOUR ANSWER VISUAL GROUP SHOW A HUMAN SCULPTOR THAT DEPICTS YOUR ANSWER.

    3. 3. LOUIE B. VOSOTROS MAY 2013
    4. 4. A branch of science that deals with the study of the COMPOSITION, STRUCTURE, PROPERTIES, CHANGES OF MATTER, and the ENERGY CHANGES that accompany these PROCESSES.
    5. 5. branch of chemistry that deals with the structure and interactions between inorganic compounds, which are any compounds that aren't based in carbon-hydrogen bonds.
    6. 6. branch of chemistry deals with the chemistry of carbon and living things.
    7. 7. branch of chemistry involved with studying the properties of materials or developing tools to analyze materials.
    8. 8. branch of chemistry that applies physics to the study of chemistry. Quantum Mechanics and Thermodynamics are examples of physical chemistry disciplines.
    9. 9. branch of chemistry concerned with the chemical reactions that occur inside living organisms.
    10. 10. applies chemistry and physics calculations to explain or make predictions about chemical phenomena.
    11. 11.  Take notes on the relationship of chemistry to other sciences and its contribution to the progress of society and industry using bulleted notes.  You will be given 10 minutes only to do the task
    12. 12.  Form a group of 4. Share your notes in bullet list and in a cartolina or manila paper. Your work should present ideas not coming from the textbook.  You will be given another 10 minutes to do this task.
    13. 13.  Post your work around the walls of the room. Go around and fill up the organizer in your notebook. Group No. Ideas I Also Have Ideas New to me Group 1 Group 2 Group 3
    14. 14.  Write a short paragraph summarizing what you have learned today.” What was learned today?” Be specific with examples.
