The
goal
of
the
TaxFairnessWI
campaign
is
a
fairer
tax
system
in
Wisconsin
and
the
US.
What
do
we
mean
by
“tax
fairness?”
That’s
a
hard
thing
to
define
in
just
a
few
words.

But
it
can
be
really
obvious
when
something
is
unfair.
“Fair”
is
hard
to
define.
“Unfair”
can
be
easy
to
see.

It’s
unfair
when
billionaires
don’t
pay
a
penny
of
state
income
tax.
And
the
rest
of
us
do
pay.

It’s
unfair
when
local
merchants
must
charge
sales
tax,
while
Internet
compeLtors
like
Amazon.com
and
eBay
don’t
No
sales
tax
charged
on
this
Amazon.com
purchase.
It’s
an
unfair
advantage
over
local
retailers.

It’s
unfair
when
profitable
giant
corporaLons
pay
$0
in
Wisconsin
income
tax.
Some
large
corpora<ons
which
pay
zero
state
income
tax:
• S.C.
Johnson
(Johnson
Wax)
• General
Electric
• Associated
Bank
• Kimberly-‐Clark

It’s
unfair
when
wealthy
reLrees
enjoy
high-‐rise
lakefront
views…
…but
pay
zero
property
tax
because
their
building
is
classed
“non-‐
profit.”

We
all
have
to
pay
some
taxes.
Sure,
there’s
plenty
of
debate
about
how
big
government
should
be,
how
high
taxes
should
be.

But
we’ve
got
to
have
some
taxes.
And
they
should
be
fair.
