  2. 2. • Students in remote schools like Ikondo walk up to 9km in dangerous conditions to school. • We identified the villages and hamlets where students come from and mapped them. • By tracing roads and buildings in OpenStreetMap • By adding our local knowledge of the key places using Organic Maps

  4. 4. Students from Ikondo carrying one of their fellows, ill with malaria, 2 hours up the mountain to the nearest clinic.
  5. 5.  Mapping has enabled us to know the distance each student walks to school.  This helps us in identify which girls most need a place at the school hostel.  It also means we understand better the challenges which mean some students arrive late to school. Cont …..
