  2. 2. The Weight and Length of a Rat The Brown rat ( Norway rat ) weighs up to 8.1 oz. and they are usually about 8-10 inches long. The Black rat weighs up to 3.9 - 12 oz. and they are usually about 13-18 inches long.
  3. 3. Common Colors of a Rat Fawn and russet are two shades for a tame brown rat. Colors like black, beige, and chocolate are most referred to be colors of a brown and black wild rat. Russet brown is most common for tame rats as well.
  4. 4. Body Covering All rats are covered in fur except for Sphinx rats, which do not have fur. ( the rat tail is not covered in fur ) I know de wae to rats
  5. 5. How a Rat Breathes A rat breathes through their nose, a bad sign of breathing is when rats breathe through their mouth ( meaning they could be sick ).
  6. 6. Rats are Born Live, or Born as Eggs? All rats are born live, and they are cared for about 3 - 4 weeks.
  7. 7. How many Babies a Rat Produces Most of the time rats’ offsprings are very big. But they will usually have up to 8 to 10 young per litter.
  8. 8. What Are the Young Called? The young rats/baby rats would often be referred to: kittens or pups. Once grown up, they will just be called ‘Rats’.
  9. 9. How Does a Rat Travel? A rat travels by foot, they tend to travel with packs or a so called mischief.
  10. 10. The Locations of a Rat Brown rats or Norway rats are usually found in every continent except for Antarctica. Other breeds may live in one place only. Most rats will tend to nest near patios, decks, and edges of sidewalks.
  11. 11. Do Rats Hibernate or Migrate? Rats don’t hibernate or migrate. But they will look for a warm place to live in during cold temperatures.
  12. 12. Rat’s Blood Temperature All rats are warm blooded, but there is a different breed that are cold blooded despite being a mammal. These rats are called the Mole rats.
  13. 13. Are Rats Omnivores, Carnivores or Herbivores? Rats are Omnivores because they eat both meat and herbs/plants.
  14. 14. How Do Rats Protect Themselves? If provoked a rat will fight back at most times and they will tend to be fierce. They will be very enraged if their young are threatened or provoked by others.
  15. 15. Endangered Rats? Rats are luckily not endangered and still roam this world to this moment! Do you know de rats?
