  6. 6. Job description <ul><li>Fashion Designers have to consider what is in style and mix it with there personal style when creating clothes. They have to do research and or consult specialist in textiles and current trends. </li></ul><ul><li>After the fabric and styles are picked prototypes are made. The designer than has to narrow down the garments that will be used in the final line. </li></ul><ul><li>The computer is increasing becoming handy in this industry because you get to see everything in different colors and shapes in a faster paper saving way. </li></ul>

Skills and knowledge required: <ul><li>The individuals who usually get jobs are the ones with a 2- year or a 4– year degree, are knowledgeable about textiles, fabrics, ornamentation and trends. A good idea to get experience in this field would be to get an internship with design or manufacturing firm. One can also advance by entering amateur contest. </li></ul><ul><li>Fashion designers need excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Fashion Designer should also be a team player because they constantly work with other people. A portfolio of all your best work is </li></ul><ul><li>It is also crucial when finding a job in fashion. </li></ul><ul><li>It is also very important to have sewing knowledge so you can advise on how a garment should be made. </li></ul>

The most important thing I learned is that no matter haw many people you have contributing to your business you never have enough money. So my friends and i are going to start saving now. I would do this experience again in a heartbeat. I shadowed Laury. She was one of the owners of Sonoma Café in Hauppauge. WE learned about the rules and regulations and how to advertise for business. It has been one of the most important experiences in my life thus far . </li></ul>
