So learning how run effective organization.● Real passion in social work● The job helped to help figure passion for a work and intellectual curiosity.● Private can hire people and treats employees is also ding good, yet this may not be passion.● Harvard does not give you the job, it gets you to the door. 5. 5. Minutes taken, slide 3● Joe is now going back to school for Masters in Social Work● In University done research on Gay and Lesbian community● So now it is more of a return to what Joe was doing for a long time before● Money is important – non-profit organization dont necessary run at profit, but cant be run at lost.● Non-profit organization are real business● Joe was democracy and consensus type person before always. Now learned how top-down authority can be used in a good way and how it could be done better.● Spending a lot of your own time helps. Knowning your people and building relationship is 1st step prior building business functions.● In the case of aquiring new team in nerw culture/geo. Today KITD is considered a technical company and governed by US law. For the company aquiring the new company need to understand if there is “cultural fit” which translates in “do you just like the people” :-)● Example in 2010 company was bought in Singapore. Cultural found a lot of synergy. Everything in Singapore business done with letter of credit. If company does not insist on same way “it was always done. This is how we done it in USA”, then in fact you can get a better local business did.● Personal advice – important tell early on 1st week on the job, what you willing to do and what you are not willing to do.● Define what is personal and what is business.Wed, 12 Oct, 2011 Prague, Czech Republic 5

New hires are registered in the corporate system.● Interview of people working at the admin office.● Worked run and started several businesses.● Go around world meet with Investors, Relationship builder, M&A is externally facing. – After hanging out there is a result of new investors.● President – manages day to day operation. Helping people to do their job. – Mix of driving rest of business● What things enjoyed doing – execs. They dont have work they have meetings – it is crucial that everyone is on the same page. Enjoyed meetings and driving of consistent messaging and helping people be aligning and to accomplishing things.● One of difficult thing – restructuring. A lot of work happening in spreadsheets. Sometimes decision is maid without seeing actual people. If feasible if letting anyone goes – then would do it yourself and telling about decision yourself.● After 2 years – being just intellectual is not enough. Be careful not fall into Assistant trap. Cant stay there long. Avoid being treated as career assistant.● Think now – If you are good at your job – noone would want to let you go – if you are bad at job – your job be limited.Wed, 12 Oct, 2011 Prague, Czech Republic 6
