Mapping Vendor Certificationsto National Qualifications<br />Our school is committed to aligning ICT delivery of National courses with leading International vendor certifications.<br />This allows us ensure our classroom delivery meets industry standards. <br />As a result, we have developed mapping between Vendor Certifications and our courses. Some certifications are integrated completely others are used partially.<br />We test our students internally using realistic simulations and at the end of the subject they are ready to take an external vendor exam.<br />

International Vendor Certifications<br />Vendor Certifications:<br />Mainly technology and company specific – these are sought after by employers<br />Very often are assessed via multiple choice questions exams. <br />Based on industry best practices.<br />These are assessed and maintained by international organisations.<br />CISCO, Microsoft, Red Hat offer vendor academies providing:<br />learning materials<br />practical case studies<br />theoretical exams<br />

Mapping Vendor Certifications (continued)<br />Certificate III (Support)<br />A+ - vendor independent hardware certification integrated via Cisco Academy program IT Essentials.<br />MCTS – Microsoft Computer Technician certification for Vista, partially used<br />Diploma in IT (General)<br />ITIL Foundation V3<br />Cisco CCENT – integrated via CISCO Academy program Discovery 1, 2 <br />Microsoft Sharepoint – to be introduced in 2010<br />

Testing Centre at VU<br />The school run an external testing centre for industry clients and students.<br />We have agreements with Prometric (Microsoft exams), Pearson VUE (CISCO exams) and Certiport (Microsoft Applications and Adobe exams).<br />We are EXIN Accredited Testing Centre and we deliver ITIL exams for students and external clients.<br />
  8. 8. Onshore International ICT Students<br />Note: Students successfully completing ICA50105 can enter with credit equivalent to one year full time study the following three degrees at VU: BBIS/BBCM and SBNS<br />
