School Of 2020 (Claudia & Carlos)

 1. 1. Schools of 2020 Made By: Claudia Mendoza Carlos Vasquez
 2. 2. Current technologies in classrooms

Laptops: Their use is exponentially growing in schools and in universities, they are used to record and process information in a organized way.

Smart boards: Used to display information throughout the class, can be used as a ‘touch screen’.

Projectors: Another way of displaying information (Less interaction than the smart board).

 3. 3. more technologies

Printer: connected to a server, allows several computers to output their material through a common printer.

CPU: All classroom have a CPU with all the standard peripherals (monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc.)

Software: the school’s computers

Websites: To provide common spaces for all the students. For example, the school website, Moodles for specific courses, wikispaces for cloud computing, blogs, etc. these provide controlled access.

 4. 5. Current technologies outside classrooms

Servers: Used as mass storage space, where all extra utilities are connected. (Printer, scanner, etc.)

Security Cameras: are used around school in CCTV.

Scanners:

Bar code readers: used at the library to keep a record of all the books in stock

Photocopier: Used to photocopy worksheets and other material. (Connected to the server)

Fax: Used to receive information via the telephone lines.

Router: Used in key places around the school to achieve an internet signal.

 5. 6. Will these technologies be used in the future?

Most of these technologies will continued to be used in the future, in many cases the technologies themselves might not be the exact same because there will be obvious developments and discoveries which will make them more elaborate and more effective. For example the concept of laptops in the future is the same, that of a portable computer, but the hardware and software itself might change into different kind Ex. Windows XP to Windows Vista.

 6. 7. Changes in technology over time

Technology has come a long way in the last decade, new more powerful computers allow faster processing of data.

The internet is now available in broadband connection allowing the faster transfer of information around the world.

The internet is also available in many parts of the world where is wasn’t a few years ago

 7. 8.

Development of software has been important in schools as well: for example, lab experiments are now being done using simulators instead of actually carrying out the experiment.

 8. 9. Technologies of the future

Virtual World Learning: Might be very cheap and timetables could be flexible. A large number of programs could be offered because of the fact that teacher do not have to be in the same location of pupils.

PDA: Hand held devices are promesing to develop more processing power which enable them to handle larger quantities of work. In class they could get to replace laptops.

 9. 10. New technologies for students

Students will not have the need to carry around their notebooks since they will make notes on their laptops.
