  2. 2. Introduction <ul><li>I am really interested in horses, and have been all my life, as I have grown up with horses in the family. I also own a horse, which I love very much - His name is Jack, he is a stunning 2 year old black cob. </li></ul><ul><li>Horses are such friendly and loving animals when you get to know them. They express a lot of grace, they make you feel as if you’re a part of something significant, and spending time looking after them can be very rewarding. </li></ul><ul><li>I hope, my viewers, will enjoy this presentation and maybe try to get to know horses better and, perhaps, even learn to ride a horse. </li></ul>

Horse grooming <ul><li>REASONS FOR GROOMING </li></ul><ul><li>Keeps the skin and coat in good condition </li></ul><ul><li>Less likely to develop skin problems </li></ul><ul><li>To keep a check on the horses general health </li></ul><ul><li>To form a bond with the horse, building confidence and trust </li></ul><ul><li>Overall enhances horses physical appearance </li></ul><ul><li>TOOLS USED FOR GROOMING </li></ul><ul><li>Curry comb (plastic) – Used to loosen dirt and debris and to stimulate the skin </li></ul><ul><li>Dandy brush (Hard bristled) – This brush is used on the legs but not on the head </li></ul><ul><li>Stable runner – A towel or cloth used to give a finish to the horses coat after riding </li></ul><ul><li>Hoof pick – An essential tool for cleaning the hooves of mud after riding </li></ul><ul><li>Body brush (soft) – For removal of dirt to the face and body, also adds shine to the coat </li></ul><ul><li>Often horses groom each other </li></ul>

Horses at work <ul><li>THROUGHOUT CENTURIES WE HAVE USED HORSES FOR MANY PURPOSES </li></ul><ul><li>Police officers on horses are highly visible and play a important role to control crowds at sporting events and public ceremonies. </li></ul><ul><li>Horse drawn carriages are very romantic, and are used for special events such as a wedding or anniversary. </li></ul><ul><li>Funeral carriage is quite popular for funerals, with people who has owned horses or who has shown a great interest in them. </li></ul><ul><li>Farming type of work is done by draught horses to prepare farmers fields ready for cultivation. </li></ul>
