The Spanish conquest <ul><li>Governor of Spain Velazquez sent a navy with 700 men. </li></ul><ul><li>Cortés was at the control of the navy. </li></ul><ul><li>The governor sent him. </li></ul><ul><li>Cortés had another plan. </li></ul><ul><li>Got profit from aztecs. </li></ul><ul><li>They thought they were gods. </li></ul><ul><li>The new Spain was about to meet it’s destiny. </li></ul>

Who was Miguel Hidalgo? <ul><li>Miguel hidalgo was Mexican. </li></ul><ul><li>8th of may 1753 </li></ul><ul><li>Nicolás Obispo College </li></ul><ul><li>Rector </li></ul><ul><li>1792 priest. </li></ul><ul><li>He started the movement of independence in 1810 </li></ul><ul><li>When the bell of the church in Dolores rang of (the morning of september 16), people knew it was the time to go with Hidalgo to fight. </li></ul><ul><li>Mexicans fought with with very simple weapons and spanish with more effective ones. </li></ul>
  5. 6. Victories <ul><li>On August 30 he won an outsatnding victory at Monte de las Cruces. </li></ul><ul><li>1811 Cerro de el grillo </li></ul><ul><li>1810 Guanajuato </li></ul><ul><li>1810 Aculco </li></ul><ul><li>Here are some victories, That Hidalgo won. </li></ul>
  6. 7. What happened after… <ul><li>Some soldiers betrayed him, so the spanish captured him. </li></ul><ul><li>He was executed in 1811 </li></ul><ul><li>His head was placed… </li></ul>

Main Reason that Hidalgo fought against… <ul><li>One of the main reasons was that the “Criollos”  (explain) or fully Mexicans were not treated as fully Spanish because they were slaves and they didn’t get payed. </li></ul><ul><li>The political constitution of the monarchy stated that everyone had to be equal. But spanish did not respect it. </li></ul>
  8. 9. <ul><li>The fight for the independence lasted 11 years. </li></ul><ul><li>A lot of people after Hidalgo fought also. </li></ul><ul><li>To get 1 target. </li></ul><ul><li>At the beginnning of 1821 Mexico was free and independent. </li></ul>FREEDOOM
  9. 10. Miguel Hidalgo was… <ul><li>He was a very good communictor. </li></ul><ul><li>The message was: “We want a free Mexico” </li></ul><ul><li>He was also very knowledgable. </li></ul><ul><li>Miguel Hidalgo was risk taker. </li></ul>
