1. 1. Developing social media and e-reputation skills to a certification of an internet user’s skills based on traces they leave on the web, their use of social media, their digital identity and personnal e-reputation. Pr Isabelle Gonon : Conservatoire national des Arts et Métiers (Cnam,Paris) Pr Guy Casteignau : Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)

    3. 3. You on the web

Online presence and uses of social media leave traces on Internet

subscribing in online service

sharing content (video, bookmark...)

publishing articles, sending messages

taking part in online communities

contacting friends on social network

What kind of trace ?

pictures and videos (created by you or showing you and tagged by others),

texts (comment, message, article writed by you or speaking of you),

public profiles...

These traces are « you on the web », your digital identity

    4. 4. from e-identity to e-reputation

e-reputation is our digital identity as perceived by others

it is important for instance when looking for a job

we must work on it and improve it while protecting our privacy

we have to know how participate in and control our experience on the web

and how develop these skills : because these activities require skills

    5. 5. Skill base (1)

These skills are organized in a skill base in 5 units

create and manage his digital identity

choose sites or services

follow a procedure of registration

fill their profile with appropriated informations

protect his digital identity

protect personnal data and privacy

be informed about laws and duties on internet

restore their e-identity after an attack

participate in virtual life on sites and social network

discuss

participate

collaborate

share

transmit informations through socials networks

publish on a blog

create their personnal network

    6. 6. Skill base (2)

These skills are organized in 5 parts

create and manage his digital identity

protect his digital identity

participate in virtual life on sites and social network

control and evaluate their e-reputation

measure and analyze their friends on social network

measure readers and their impact

measure and monitor their ranking on a search engine

manage their e-reputation and ask other to evaluate

choose a kind of feedback

make use of feedbacks

promote their productions

ask for recommandations and subscriptions

    7. 7. Skills assessment and enhancement

We are going to present two systems for developing and enhancement of these skills

both are based on the same skills base and both involve certification by institutions and/or peers:

the ICT passport (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – AUF, a global network of French-speaking universities) and

the e-reputation certificate (AUF-VUMS-CNAM consortium).

    8. 8. AUF ICT Passport (1)

http://www.transfer-tic.org/article3.html

What is it ?

It looks like a passport but visas inside speaks of skills

all the skills are like leaves of differents trees

Click to see a tree !

a new tree will soon present all skills of a user of social media developping its e-reputation

    9. 9. AUF ICT Passport (2)

How to use it ?

like a personal portfolio,

not for recruitement, but for social reputation, and mobility.

Validation is made both by university and AUF,

a visa is given when the candidate has completed a course or proved his skill

    10. 10. e-reputation certificate

It is a certification system and a trademark (skills base & terms of certification)

interdisciplinary, not specifically tied to any profession or educational level.

may interest professionnal or personal life (personal branding)

“ e-reputation certification” is a general qualification.

of interest to a wide range of users: those self-employed, managerial staff), policymakers, associations, and students interested in optimizing their employability – as well as anyone else interested in using participatory internet (web 2.0, social networks).

    11. 11. Learning Training

skills are not innate and must be learned by the use of social media

in self-training or with coaching

course on the construction of digital identity and improvement of e-reputation is currently offered by the AUF and an engineering school called ITIN (as an optional module in final year). This school is first to test the online training. Next year it will be implemented at the Cnam.

...

    12. 12. Assessment in action : the procedure of certification itself

The “e-reputation certificate” is innovative in terms of the certification procedure : the candidate has to prove his skills in practice through action, in a personal project aimed at improving his e-reputation

during 4 to 6 month

producing 3 reports (at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of this period)

with a little coaching if necessary

The candidate is evaluated

through the traces he has left,

the explanation he give of his intentions and actions and the analysis of the differences between what he tried to do and reality, through reporting or while discussing with members of jury.

    13. 13. to evaluation by peers

currently peers are not directly involved in the process of assessment, even if e-reputation is coming from their perception and feedbacks.

in the future we hope to involve more directly peers to certify each skill in a process of co-certification by users themselves

    14. 14. Thank you for your attention !

Some questions ?

For more information

[email_address]

http://www.auf.org/

http://www.cnam.fr
