  4. 4. Based on my observations<br />Wherever you go, now or then, research is considered the most important indicator of performance.<br />But it is no longer the only criterion.<br />Research: quantity vs. quality<br />Could be a dilemma<br />But we need both.<br />
  5. 5. To achieve quantity<br />Work like hell<br />Hurry up<br />Collaborate<br /><ul><li>With whom?</li></ul>Pick the right journal<br />Be ethical<br />
  6. 6. To enhance quality<br />Work like hell<br />Slow down<br />Be creative<br />“What’s new about new media; what’s not new about new media research”<br />Pick the right journal <br />Writing matters<br />Especially for international scholars<br />
  7. 7. Research is NOT easy<br />Takes a long time<br />Needs resources<br />Reviews that are really blind<br />…<br />…<br />…<br />…<br />
  8. 8. When frustrated<br />Talk to friends<br />Ask for advice<br />Try not to be too cynical<br />Watch the “Bad Project” video on YouTube<br />
