  2. 2. <ul><li>Domain Name System is that it serves as the &quot;phone book&quot; for the Internet by translating human-friendly computer hostnames into IP addresses. </li></ul><ul><li>Internet domain names for example www.example.com are easier to remember than IP addresses such as 208.77.188.166 (IPv4) or 2001:db8:1f70::999:de8:7648:6e8 (IPv6) </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>DNS also supports wildcard DNS records that will match requests for non-existent domain names. A wildcard DNS record is specified by using a &quot;*&quot; as the left most label (part) of a domain name, e.g. *.example.com. </li></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>OpenDNS offers DNS resolution for consumers and businesses as an alternative to using their Internet service provider's DNS servers. By placing company servers in strategic locations and employing a large cache of the domain names, OpenDNS usually processes queries much more quickly, thereby increasing page retrieval speed. </li></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>OpenDNS provides the following recursive nameserver addresses for public use, mapped to the nearest operational server location by anycast routing: </li></ul><ul><li>208.67.222.222 (resolver1.opendns.com) </li></ul><ul><li>208.67.220.220 (resolver2.opendns.com) </li></ul>
