Presentation by Mr. Rômulo Paes de Sousa, Brazil's Vice Minister of Social Development delivered on 5 April 2012 at the UNDP Brasilia-based International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG). Rômulo Paes de Sousa a Medical Doctor, Social Medicine Specialist, and PhD in Epidemiology (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). He had acted as National Secretary of Evaluation and Information Management of the Ministry of Social Development and Fight against Hunger (2004-2007). He was reader of the Social Science Post-Graduate Programme at the Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG, Brazil) between 2002 and 2008. He has published six books on epidemiology and social policy evaluation and several articles on scientific journals. He had also worked in UK, South Africa and Egypt as researcher and consultant on epidemiology and social policy evaluation.
