Loras College CSRI Final Power Point

  1. 1. LORAS COLLEGE ATHLETICS ASSESSMENT
  2. 2.  “To be completely honest the situation has been hell. The chancellor is an idiot and the way his administration managed the situation was a like a nightmare. It felt like we had nothing to play for an none to support us. We did not even have the school’s support. My coach had to fight for everything we had.”
  3. 3.  “He (Ryan) has never met with us during the entire process, we have a new facility, he has never came over here, there is a perception that he is scared. He put his Vice-Chancellor as the interim AD. It was rocky at first but now he seems to see how we are treated as outcasts.”
  4. 4.  “We are a mile away from campus, separated like we are on an island out here. No leadership, not shared involvment in the process with us, coaches, or players. He just does what he wants. Apparently there is a plan, none of us have seen it, not even the top Business Administration AD, he has not been given any input.”
  5. 5.  “The management structure should’ve been better. I think the chancellor does care, they just don’t have the resources to support it on their own. It gets lost in the jumble.”
  6. 6.  Athletic Department Restructuring  Waiver Extension Request  We are New Orleans Campaign  Measurements of Success
  7. 7.  Hire Ron Maestri as Interim Athletic Director  Hire a Permanent Athletic Director within Next Year
  8. 8.  Petition NCAA for Waiver Extension  Meeting with NCAA to Give Timeline for Division 1 Compliance  Year 1- Add Women’s Golf  Year 2- Add Men’s and Women’s Cross Country  Year 3- Add Men’s and Women’s Track  Use Wick Carey Funds to Sustain Department  Naming Rights
  9. 9.  To sustain and rejuvenate the New Orleans Athletic Department at the Division I level by creating financial and moral support among everyone within the college community. In addition, create a sense of ownership within the college community and the greater New Orleans area that will result in tangible benefits for the Athletic Department and University as a whole.
  10. 10.  Create a Sense of Excitement and Progress Surrounding the Athletic Department  Generate Enough Fundraising to Sustain the Athletic Department Through Contact with Alumni and Friends  Create an Athletic Endowment to Secure the Funding of the Department for Years to Come
  11. 11.  Committee Ran by Maestri and Athletic Administration  Entice Initiative  Member Establishment  Former UNO Athletic Hall of Fame Members  Blue Krewes  Student Involvement

  13. 13.  Mailing to all former athletes  Current Coaches Write Letter to Alumni of Their Sports  Pass on The Experience  AD Writes Letters to Alumni Whose Sports are No Longer There  Focus on Brining These Sports Back  Invitation to “Privateer Pride Club”  Special Athlete Alumni Membership
  14. 14.  George Shinn (Chairman)  Endowment Explanation
