How To Optimized URL For SEO
What is a URL?
• A URL is human-readable text that was designed to replace the numbers
(IP addresses) that computers use to communicate with servers. They also
identify the file structure on the given website.
• The URL (Universal Resource Locator) is the location of a page on your
website.
For example :--
is the URL of Jaguar Solutions Company Services page.
Optimal Format :--
• http://www.example.com/category-keyword/subcategory-
keyword/primary-keyword.html
• A URL consists of a protocol, domain name, and path (which includes the
specific subfolder structure where a page is located) and has the following
basic format:
https://www.jaguarsolutions.in/seo-services-company-pune/
Why Do Urls Matter For SEO?
There are 3 main benefits of URLs :--
 Improved user experience.
 URLs are a minor ranking factor search engines use when determining a
particular page.
 Well-written URLs can serve as their own anchor text when copied and
pasted as links in forums, blogs, social media networks.
 You should optimize your URLs for SEO. URLs provide information to
search engines about the content of a page, its context and its target.
SEO Best Practices For Urls
 Keeping URLs as simple, relevant, compelling, and accurate as possible is
key to getting both your users and search engines to understand them (a
prerequisite to ranking well). Although URLs can include ID numbers and
codes, the best practice is to use words that people can comprehend.
 URLs should be definitive but concise. By seeing only the URL, a user (and
search engine!) should have a good idea of what to expect on the page.
 When necessary for readability, use hyphens to separate words. URLs
should not use underscores, spaces, or any other characters to separate
words.
 Use lowercase letters. In some cases, uppercase letters can cause issues
with duplicate pages.
For example, moz.com/Blog and moz.com/blog might be seen as two
distinct URLs, which might create issues with duplicate content.
Why URL Should Be Optimized
Optimizing the URL for each blog post will also help improve your SEO
ranking. It’s important that each URL is easy to understand, explains what the
article is about, and includes a long-tail keyword.
Below is an example which highlights an optimized URL vs. two that you
should try and avoid.

https://www.jaguarsolutions.in/local-seo-services-company-pune/
• Difficult to Understand
https://mydomain.com/pub/post?ID=431=local-seo-services-company-pune
• Impossible to Understand
https://mydomain.com/372hev63/hwwuuqb=927192018bh#372819
How To Write SEO Friendly URL
1. Add the Targeted keyword in URL
2. Use Hyphens, Not Underscores
3. Use lowercase characters
4. Create clear, User friendly URLs
5. Don’t include special characters & avoid unnecessary words
6. Connect the URL to the page title
7. URLs Must be 100% Readable
1. Add the Targeted keyword in URL
• When possible include your exact target keyword or phrase in your
URL. This is usually difficult to do on your home page, but it should be
easy on your service pages or blog articles.
• Keywords are one of the ways that a search engines and humans gather
knowledge about a web page and its content, so it is important that you
are including one or two relevant keywords in the URL. They will be most
useful when they match the contents of the page.
• Use your target keywords in the URL without keyword stuffing.
2. Use Hyphens, Not Underscores
• Use – to separate words in the URL
• If you’d like to separate words in your URL use dashes or hyphens, instead
of underscores. Google has been very clear about this. Their algorithm
was written to read hyphens, not underscores.
• Prefer hyphens to underscores
• If you want to have a chance to get ranked, then you have to apply this
rule.
Example:
• http://yourdomain.com/chocolate-cake
and
• not http://yourdomain.com/chocolate_cake
3. Use Lowercase Characters
• Do not use capital letters. Use lowercase characters.
• Capital letter can confuse search engines and readers as it can make it
more difficult to understand.
• Adding capital letters, in a way, encrypts your URL by making it
exponentially hard to remember.
• Yourdomain.com/target-keyword is a different URL
than yourdomain.com/Target-Keyword.
4. Create Clear, User Friendly Urls
• Search engines and users may have problems with complicated URLs.
• Here is a complicated URL (from an ecommerce site):
• http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse/ID72/14418875/
c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CGarden+and+DIY%7C14418702/c_2/2%7

• When seen on (SERP), a clear URL might reassure readers a page will
deliver what they are searching for. This will increase the CTR (Click
Through Rate).
• Here is a clear, simple and descriptive URL (the Service page from
JaguarSolutions.in site) :--
• https://www.jaguarsolutions.in/web-design-services-company-pune
5. Don’t Include Special Characters &
Avoid Unnecessary Words
• Special characters and symbols can create problems in URLs and cause
links to break, so don’t use unsafe characters while writing an SEO friendly
URL.
• A short SEO URL length is better than a long URL. Long URLs don’t create
problems with search engines, but they do take away from user
experience as shorter URLs look better and are easier to share on social
media.
• So keep your URL length to less 100 characters and cut
Remove unnecessary punctuation.
6. Connect The URL To The Page Title
MATCH URLS AND TITLES
• Match the title of the page and the URL structure as closely as you can.
While it doesn’t need to be the same, you want the reader to understand
that the two are connected.
• This is the ideal situation, but a variation on the title works as well.
Matching the URL with the title accomplishes a goal that is centered
around the user experience.
• This is also the reason that many experts suggest that the page title and
visible headline match—the title gives an expectation and the headline
confirms it.
7. Urls Must Be 100% Readable
• Your URL should be able to tell the reader what they will find if they choose to
click on it, because search engines know that people read URLs before clicking
them, to help them understand the content of a page.
• Ideally a URL would have the domain, sub domain, and then the keywords—
just make sure that it does not look like spam.
• URLs must be readable by everyone.
• Both readers and search engines must be capable of reading your URL.
• http://yourdomain.com/seo-services-company and not this way:
http://yourdomain.com/index.php?=5754225=t44=?p=987
Example:
 Correct URL: https://www.jaguarsolutions.in/seo-consultancy-company-pune/
 Incorrect URL: http://yourdomain.com/index.php?=6512524=t55=?p=127
