Aim
Main aim of present research proposal is to assess the role played by user’s involvement in
Asian adult cancer patients of Northwest London.
Objectives
Objectives of the research proposal are as follows:

 To determine the role of users involvement in different areas of health care.
 To suggest methods to increase involvement of Asian adult caner patients
Rationale
The research aim is currently an issue because a lot research and thesis have not been
conducted on the role played by user’s involvement. It is an issue now because it is important to
assess the concept and importance of user’s involvement in health care. The research proposal sheds
light on the role of user’s involvement in Asian adult cancer patients of Northwest London

3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology includes various scientific tools and techniques which are developed
to conduct a research study for a specific topic (Bhattacharyya, 2009). These tools and techniques
are important to conduct investigation on Asian adult cancer patients in Northwest London.
Research Philosophy is based on positivist approach. In this approach, researcher will focus on the
object of research instead of subject matter. This research will be based on inductive approach as it
will help in generating new theories and data on user’s involvement in health and social care aspect.
Current investigation will use descriptive research design as by using it, researcher will be able to

understand the opinions of care professionals and users in an effective manner and it also will help
in collecting relevant information for the whole study. The research will use qualitative strategy
(Creswell, 2013). This strategy will helpful in identifying the preliminary content available on
Asian adult cancer patients. This method is helpful in in-depth investigation on current subject. For
conducting investigation, author will use both the primary and secondary sources of data collection.
Primary sources will play an important role in collecting fresh and new figures on Asian adult
cancer patients. In contrast, secondary research will exercise content based on books, past research
paper, publication, reports, literature reviews and journals. Research universe for the current
investigation will be health care professionals. For identifying the sample from this population,
author will use probability sampling design. In this, random sample will be taken for the study and
analysis. In the research, researcher will use a sample size of 20 respondents. In order to analyse the
data collected for research on Asian adult cancer patients in Northwest London, author will use
thematic analysis method (Daniel and Sam, 2011). In this technique, author will analyse data
through using different patterns and themes.

4. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
It is important for the researcher to consider fundamentals ethics at the time of formulating
research. Further, researcher should make sure to test and verify the primary data collection sources.
Privacy concern of the respondents will be kept in mind and their responses will be secured by the
author. Researcher will not manipulate the data and focus on maintaining dignity and authenticity of
the report by presenting legitimate data (Flick, 2011). To not hamper the quality of research,
investigator will use original content that would not plagiarize. Proper references and citations

would be added so as to reduce the probability of plagiarism in the research.
5. LITERATURE REVIEW
User involvement is user’s willingness to participate in decision making process in health
and social care. User involvement is also referred to as the traffic of users toward a particular
service provider (Brett and et.al., 2014). Users are involved when they receive satisfactorily
services from the service provider. Sometimes user involvement is also referred to as the perception
of users who are accommodated through the services provided by health and social care
organisations.
As per the Purcell (2015) “current role of user involvement is to enhance the level of
decision making process that is required for care planning”. It is vital for the care provider to decide
different ways to provide care and planning services to the cancer patients (Purcell, 2015). Care
planning is referred to providing planned services like medical diagnosis, medication and diet to the
patients suffering from cancer. According to Rise (2013) “if users are highly involved with the care
provider, then better and efficient care planning can be provided to the patients” (Rise and et.al.,
2013). However, current research analyses that user involvement is also relevant in generating
customized care plan. After analysing individual patient’s needs, plans are created by customizing
care based on diagnosis and medical findings. On the basis of Thompson’s report (2014) “research
person centric care planning increases user’s involvement”. Thus, it can be evaluated that service
users role is important in creative and innovative care plan for the cancer patients specifically
(Thompson and et.al., 2014). User’s involvement also generates improvement in the quality of
services provided by the care provider. As per the study of Jonsson (2013) “customer engagement
assists health care provider to bring quality services and assistance to the patients” (Jonsson and
et.al., 2013).
This research also identifies the need of different strategies that must be appointed to
increase user involvement. By providing online or written consultations, service care professionals
will be able to understand the requirement of patients. Conducting complaint handling, regular
workshops and enhancing relevance of focus groups will help service user to provide feedback and
suggestion to the health care professionals (Al-Kaabi and et.al., 2015). Regular surveys can be
conducted in the form of panels to assess the satisfaction of services generated to the service users.
