  2. 2. www.derby.ac.uk A bit about you... • How many of you work for institutions/organisations which deliver some form of online learning? • How many of you work for institutions/organisations have library staff whose sole responsibility is supporting online learners? • How many of you work for institutions/organisations which provide electronic access to all the learning resources that their online learners may need? • How many of you work for institutions/organisations which have robust systems for communicating with online learners? • How many of you can say (honestly!) that your online learners have an equitable experience in terms of library skills and resources as your on- campus learners?
  3. 3. www.derby.ac.uk The University of Derby • Post-1992 university • 15,935 Higher Education students based in the UK • 8,380 Higher Education students based at overseas franchised institutions • 4,775 Further Education students • Seven sites in Derby and Derbyshire • September 2014 - moved from 4 Faculties to 7 Colleges
  4. 4. www.derby.ac.uk University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL) • 2001 - University of Derby started to offer online distance learning to students • 2011 - UDOL (University of Derby Online Learning) was created, which brought together online programmes across the University • Largest portfolio of ‘fully online’ programmes of any UK University • 2015/6 2800 students – 1219 EU overseas (44%) – 1589 home students (56%) • Development model – trimester model
