Telegraf Operator
● Open source K8s operator that injects Telegraf to gather data
○ Lifecycle and deployment separate from telegraf itself
○ Includes configuration of app classes and where their data is sent
● Adds sidecar to workloads with specific pod annotations
○ What data to scrape, how often and app class part of annotations
○ Allows using prometheus scraping as well as all of Telegraf’s plugins
● Used to monitor workloads at InfluxData
○ Both telegraf-operator and telegraf used extensively at InfluxData

Demo plan
● Deploy InfluxDB v2 to cluster, log in to it
● Deploy telegraf-operator to cluster
○ first ensuring it’s configured for hot reload
● Configure telegraf-operator classes and explain configuration
○ mention how this would work for InfluxDB Cloud
● Deploy some workloads - nginx, redis
○ Show sidecars being added automatically
○ Go back to InfluxDB and show data in dashboards
