SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE

 1. 1. PRESENTATION TOPIC NEED FOR SYSTEM ANALYSIS
 2. 2. SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE :- (SDLC)

SDLC is process of conceiving, designing, and implementing, a system by the process of investigation, analysis, design, implemantation& maintenance. It is also called IS DEVELOPMENT OR APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT.

SDLC consist of the following activities :-

Identifying problems ,opportunities & objectives.

Determining IS requirements .

Analyzing system needs.

Designing the recommended system.

Developing & documentation software .

Testing & maintaining the system .

Implementing & evaluating the system .

Various stages of SDLC :-

System investigation

System analysis (My Topic)

System design

System implementation

system maintenance & system support

 3. 3. SDLC IS SHOWN IN FIGURE BELOW:-

1 Understand the business problem or

opportunity.

2 Develop an information system solution.

3 Develop specification for the H/W,S/W,

people network and data resources and

information product.

4 Implement IS solution.

Use a post implementation review process

5 to monitor, evaluate, and modify the

system.

System investigation system analysis System design

System implementation

System maintenance
 4. 4. MEANING :-

System analysis is an in depth study of end-user information requirements that is needed before the design of a new information system can be completed. it describe what a system should do to meet the information need of users. it is the second stage in the SDLC.

System analysis traditionally involves a detailed study of:

The information needs of a company and end users like yourself.

The activities, resources, and products of one or more of the present information system being used.

Information system capabilities required to meet your information needs,& those of other business stakeholders that may use the system.

 5. 5. Need for system analysis :-

the information needs of the

traditionally organization & its end users.

the activities, resources & involves a detailed products of any present IS.

Of the IS capabilities required to meet the needs of the end users.

NEEDS :-

It describes what a system should do to meet the information needs of users.

It is an important activity that take place when new IS are being build or existing ones are to be changed. The most crucial role of system analysis is in defining user requirements.

It analyses: - the components & requirements of a system,

the information needs of an organization,

the characteristics & components of presently utilized IS,

the functional requirement of IS.

System Analysis
 6. 6. STEPS IN SYSTEM ANALYSIS :-

Organizational Analysis : -

I t is the first important step in system analysis. The members of a development team have to know something about the organization ,its management structure, its people, its business activities, the environmental system it must deals with, its current information system.

Analysis of the present system : -

Before we design a new system ,it is important to study of the system that will be improved or replaced .you need to analyze how this system uses hardware, software, network&people ,resources to convert data resources, such as report&display. Then, you should document how the IS activities of input, processing, output, storage&control are accomplished.

Functional requirement analysis : -

This step of system analysis is one of the most difficult .you must need to work as a team with IS analysis and other end users to determine your to determine your specific business information needs .

 7. 7.

Three steps in Functional Requirement Analysis : -

1) to determine what type of information each business activity requires; what its format; volume, and frequency should be; and what response times are necessary .

2) to determine the information processing capabilities required for each system activity (input, processing , output , storage , control ) to meet these information need.

3)to develop functional requirement –it is the end user information requirement that are not tied to the hardware, software, network , data ,people, resources that end users presently use or might use in the system .
