This document contains summaries of graphic design projects completed by Shari R. Box using various software programs including Illustrator and Photoshop. The projects include logo designs for a barbecue restaurant and Ms. Billco's Barbershop, a brochure for Cadillac, advertisements for a teen clothing store and Maytag, posters promoting environmentalism and a university, and a reimagined movie poster. For each project, the objective and solution are described, focusing on visual elements and messaging.
2. LOGO DESIGN
Software Used: Objective:
Illustrator, Photoshop While relying the message that barbeque is comfort
food, I wanted the logo to look calming, comforting and also
relate to barbecue.
Solution:
I used a deep dark blue to symbolize the comfort of
barbeque. I then made a flame that is reminiscent of an open
flame barbeque pit. Also to reference the name, I used big
bold lettering.
3. BROCHURE DESIGN
Software used:
Illustrator, Photoshop
Objective:
To make an organized, attractive brochure that was
similar to the web site.
Solution:
I used colors and info found on the Cadillac web site
to relate the two.

4. PERSONAL PROJECT
Software used:
Illustrator
Objective:
To make a vector portrait.
5. LOGO DESIGN
Software Used:
Illustrator
Objective:
To redesign the Billco Logo with a feminine approach to
be used as the Ms. Billco Logo.
Solution:
I basically just took the old logo for Billco’s Barbershop
and revamped it to be more feminine. I added a woman in for
the man and made the colors more earthy and light.
6. ADVERTISEMENT
Software Used:
Photoshop, Illustrator
Objective:
To make an advertisement that relates to teens and
teen fashion.
Solution:
I meet my objective by making the ad look modern
and stylish. I made sure to define key areas of the store
that would appeal to teen girls, (Great Fashion, Great Atmo-
sphere, and Great Prices). Also, I put the logo in the corner
as to not interfere with the design.

7. POSTER DESIGN
Software Used:
Illustrator
Objective:
To make a poster promoting a cleaner envi-
ronment.
Solution:
I wanted it to be very “green” and organic,
so I made a landscape. Out of the landscape, is a
flower blooming in the form of a book which rep-
resents Purdue as a university. Also, I wanted it
to look as though it was made out of paper, which
I did by adding a texture over everything. Also, I
added a slight drop shadow on all of the elements
to make it look as if it were cut out of and pasted or
taped to a piece of colored paper.
8. MOVIE POSTER
Software used:
Illustrator
Objective:
To recreate a movie poster so that it is com-
pletely different yet still relays the same message
as the original.
9. ADVERTISEMENT
Software Used:
Photoshop, Illustrator
Objective:
To make an advertisement that relates to Maytag and
their brand.
Solution:
I meet my objective by making the ad simple. I want-
ed to get my information across as quickly as possible so I
just added important key information about the company, its
product featured in the ad, and places you can go to buy the
product.
