Choose and Start an Industry Hi-Tech Projects,Mar’14, www.eiribooksandprojectreports.com # 03 SODIUM LAURYL ETHER SULFATE [EIRI-1477] The sodium salts are familiar as pastes with about 30 percent of active material as dried extruded material, dried flakes or tray-dried powder all of high concentration. For special purposes as for examples as a foaming agent and detergent in tooth-pastes free, unsulphated alcohol is undesirable because of the flavour it imparts. For same exceptional cases sodium sulphate is unwanted. Sodium sulphate can be eliminated by dissolving out the sodium lauryl sulphate with hot ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. These solvents also take the free unsulphated alcohol into solution and after evaporating off the solvent a final extraction with acetone will dissolve the free alcohol and leave purified alkyl sulphate as the residue. These compounds belong to a niche specialty segment of the chemical industry and can be used either in existing construction projects to speed up the work or in new construction projects to impart durability and strengthen the structures. Construction chemicals increase the cost of the project by 2- 5% but the benefits are multi-fold. Certain chemical products help in minimizing the quantities of cement and water used in the construction. These compounds impart chemical as well as physical properties in applications such as cross-linking or phase change (from liquid to solid). Construction chemicals are essential for high quality concrete and for promoting the improvement of concrete performance. They also increase the life of construction work and impart additional protectionfrom environmentalhazards. It conformsto themolecular formula, (C6-H10O5)u, where n varies from a few hundred to over one million. Starch is found as the reserve carbonhydrate in various parts of plants and is enzymatically broken down to gluose to other erbohydrates according to the metabollic needs of the plants.Industrially, starch is broadly divided into two types viz, natural and modified. Natural starches, also designated as unmodified starches or simply starches, are obtained from grains such as and sorghum.from roots like potato, tapioca and arrow root, and from the pith of the stems of certain palms such a sago. They are further classified into cereal starches and root starches. The characteristics of the natural starches are changed by chemical or enzymatic action and the products of these reactions are termed modified starches. Polyacrylates, a family of clear and relatively durable thermoplastics, are the major source for the consumption of EMA. At the end of 2008, there were almost 50 ethyl methacrylate manufacturing plants globally (some uncertainty exists over the precise number of plants in China where the very small localized plants are scattered over a wide geography) with plant sizes ranging from 1 500 to 360 000 metric tons per year (3.3 to 794 million pounds EMA per year). EMA can be commercially manufactured by a number of routes. The conventional EMA process centers on the reaction of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and acetone to give acetone cyanohydrin. The cyanohydrin then undergoes acid assisted hydrolysis and esterification with methanol to give ethyl methacrylate. Cost Estimation Plant Capacity 33.33 MT./Day Land & Building (15000 sq.mt.) The use of perfumery compounds started very early in the history. It would probably had its beginning with the Atlantions who flourished at a period conjectured to antedate the christian era by about 23,000 years. For the earliest records of perfumery compound. It is necessary to turn to Egypt Egyptian kings were very fond of perfumes in various forms. Perfumes were used for three quite distinct purposes by the Egyptians.(1) As offerings to their deities, (2) For aesthetic purposes during their lives. (3) As principal agents for embalming their dead, Cosmetics and perfumes were evidently used by jewish women. In India, China and many other Asian countries, natural perfumery compounds were used in the prehistoric period itself. It was customary for the priests to burn incense before the Gods in the temples and this incense probably consisted of aromatic gums, resins and oleo-resins mixed with perfumed woods. A 1.5% solution is clear and when it is cooled to 34-430C it forms a firm gel which does not melt again below 850C. It is a mixture of polysaccharides whose basic monomer is galactose. These polysaccharides can be sulphated in very variable degrees but to a lesser degree than in carrageenan. For this reason the ash content is below those of carrageenan, furcelleran (Danish agar) and others. A 5% maximum ash content is acceptable for agar although it is normally maintained between 2.5- 4%. Agar is the phycocolloid of most ancient origin. In Japan, agar is considered to have been discovered by Minoya Tarozaemon in 1658 and a monument is Shimizu-mura commemorates the first time it was manufactured. Originally, and even in the present times, it was made and sold as an extract in solution (hot) or in gel form (cold), to be used promptly in areas near the factories; the product was then known as tokoroten. Generally, a coating of nail polish may last several days before it begins to chip and fall off. Nail polish can also be removed manually by applying nail polish “remover,” a substance designed to break down and dissolve the polish. Nail polishes, nail enamels or nail lacquers are coloured or colourless and/or pearly viscous liquid, composed of nitrocellulose, synthetic resins, plasticizers and organic solvents. In addition they include suitable pigments as colouring agents. Cost Estimation Plant Capacity 1 MT./Day Land & Building (Area 1000 sq.mt.) Rs.1.45 Cr. PVC is a thermosetting plastic. In other words, it can only be softened and molded into form once. If it is softened and remolded a second time it will lose some of it’s favorable characteristics. Recently, ‘Fuseable PVC’ has come to market to compete with the fuseable properties of HDPE Pipe. PVC is very corrosion resistant. It is not a conductor and will not have an electrochemical reaction with acids and bases that it comes in contact with. For this reason, PVC is sometimes used to coat other materials for protection. PVC also has a high chemical resistance. While it will react with some chemicals, there are a large number of chemicals it will not reactwith, makingit an excellent product for industrial applications. Hi-Tech Projects,Mar’14, www.eiribooksandprojectreports.com # 07 Best Industries to Start and Grow NO CARB PASTE (ANTICARBURIZING PASTE - WATER SOLUBLE) FOR HEAT TREATMENT [EIRI-1439] Carbon paste (anti-carburizing paste) (water soluble) is a very versatile item meant for application for parts that require no hardness (i.e. to be kept soft) after case hardening. The basic object of the paste alludes to its application for protection of external and internal threads, serratious, blind holes etc. The specialty of the carbon paste is that it is water soluble and does not chemically invade the steel on which it is applied. Further, the carbon paste or anti- carburizing paste is steady in its working effect in the furnace at atmospheres of carbon monoxide. Among other characteristics that the carbon exhibits, a salient one is that it does not absorb moisture from the air during storage. The formulations of carbon paste comprise carbonates, potassium ferrocyanide, salts of certain organic acids, sodium hydroxide, calcium chloride, rosin soap etc. all - being water soluble chemicals, so water glass (sodium silicate) or glue is used as a binder. In view of the versatile use of the carbon paste for the end-user industries, the demand of the product is increasing at a rapid pace and it has get very good future prospects. Other names for PAC are basic aluminium chloride, polybasic aluminium chloride, aluminium hydroxychloride, aluminium oxychloride and aluminium chlorohydrate. The presence of polymeric, aluminium - containing cations, the distribution of which can differ greatly, typifies PAC products. Although the formation of polynuclear aluminium species in solution has been studied for over a centary, there is still much controversy concerning aluminium polymerization reactions and the resulting product compositions.Polyaluminium chloride is a partially hydrolyzed aluminium chloride solution, which may incorporate a small amount of sulphate, has been introduced in Japan, England and Australia as an alternative to alum.
