  • On January 25, 2005 The United Nation Commission of Inquiry declared “government forces and militias conducted indiscriminate attacks, including killing of civilians, torture, enforced, disappearance, and destruction of villages, rape and other forms of sexual violence, pillaging and force displacement throughout Darfur. These acts were conducted on a widespread systematic basis.

    4. 4. History <ul><li>The crisis in Darfur is the result of the rebellion led by the Sudanese Liberation Army on the Sudanese government. </li></ul>
    5. 5. The Villages <ul><li>The Sudanese air force bombs the homes of villagers very early in the morning. </li></ul>
    6. 6. The Villages <ul><li>Then the militia ride in the villages, killing the men, raping the women, and looting. </li></ul>
    7. 7. <ul><li>The people are forced out of their homes. </li></ul><ul><li>They journey miles just to find “shelter.” </li></ul>
    8. 8. The Camps <ul><li>The conditions in the refugee camps are comparable to those of concentration camps. </li></ul>
    9. 9. Starvation and Malnurition <ul><li>There is desperate need of food, water and medicine. </li></ul>A young child clings to life.
    10. 10. Lack of Protection <ul><li>If the women leave the camps they risk being abducted, raped or possibly killed. </li></ul><ul><li>They are trapped. </li></ul>
