  6. 6. What is OpenStack? A freely available collection of cloud machinery elements that let's you create cloud environment. The environment has well described both user and machine interfaces, and good documentation.

Different Clouds ● Private cloud – – Automatizing the existing server capacity in-house – ● For development environments Small-scale production cloud Hosted private cloud – – ● OpenStack can be hosted externally Smooth transition from private cloud to hosted private environment. Public cloud – There are operators that run public clouds using OpenStack.

Private vs. Public Cloud ● Use OpenStack for cloud privacy – ● ● Keep your valuable data close to you (customer information, corporate sensitive data) -> private, or in trusted public Know who handles your private data (Trusted partner hosts your cloud) Identify who do you don't want to handle your data – Do you trust the cloud vendor, their employees and officials?
