Why do Iwant todo this?..•  In the ‘Northern Ireland Survey: the experience and impact of the troubles.” It was reported that just over half of those with experience of the troubles indicate change in their lives. Should be formally recognized by policy makes and service providers in Northern Ireland, especially in targeting social need. Social support has proven in other causes of post-traumatic stress as a major and most effective source of help in this field. Over 40% of those who did seek help claimed they were unable to find adequate help.•  When asked about medication to cope, almost a quarter have taken some and 52% of those reported that they were on medication permanently. 83 % overall believe that nothing will help.
  5. 5. What do Iwant todo?..•  Phototherapy is a technique that will allow children to use photography as the catalyst for communication, change and healing. Kids will learn digital photography techniques using a camera, mac computers and adobe photoshop software. Culminating in an exhibition upon completion of the project. Letting children take part in the buzz of the City of Culture, an enlightening path to the success of the future!•  Workshops centered to children aged 8-18 with once a week for eight weeks classes.  The workshops will be conducted within a group setting.
  6. 6. What do I want to do?..  •  Through the formation of this collection of images, and through a method of working with groups of affected people providing an insight and demand for consultations, talks, workshops locally and a more comprehensive network than at the beginning of this project.•  I want to create a series of images that incorporate the field of art therapy into photography in order for viewers to visualize and recognize their unconscious state of mind in conflict trauma resolution, specific to Derry or Northern Ireland. Leading to further research into art therapy developing a type of ‘Photo- Therapy’, PhD research, photographic exhibitions, published work and recognition from the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and the NHS.
