Purification in the Holy Quran <ul><li>وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ ۖ قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى فَاعْتَزِلُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي الْمَحِيضِ ۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّىٰ يَطْهُرْنَ ۖ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ </li></ul><ul><li>And they ask you about menstruation. Say, &quot;It is harm, so keep away from wives during menstruation. And do not approach them until they are pure . And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has ordained for you. Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves .&quot; (Al-Baqarah 2:222) </li></ul>

Purification in the Holy Quran <ul><li>لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَىٰ مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِ ۚ فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَن يَتَطَهَّرُوا ۚ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُطَّهِّرِين َ </li></ul><ul><li>Do not stand [for prayer] within it - ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves . (At-Tawbah – 9:108) </li></ul><ul><li>مَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ </li></ul><ul><li>Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful. (Al-Maidah – 5:6) </li></ul><ul><li>وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ </li></ul><ul><li>And your clothing purify (Al-Muddathir 74:4) </li></ul>

Purification in the Sunnah <ul><li>One of the conditions of prayer: ritual purity </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): “No prayer for the one who had ritual impurity until he makes wudu” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>( Muslim from Abu Hurairah) </li></ul></ul>
  7. 7. Purification in the Sunnah <ul><li>Wudu linguistically means </li></ul><ul><li>Radiance and Beauty </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Causes the performer of it to have spiritual beauty in this life, and both spiritual and physical beauty in the hereafter. </li></ul></ul>

The Great Reward of Wudu <ul><li>Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) said: </li></ul><ul><li>&quot;When a servant of God makes ablution and rinses his mouth, his wrong deeds fall from it . As he rinses his nose, his wrong deeds fall from it . When he washes his face, his wrong deeds fall from it until they fall from beneath his eyelashes. When he washes his hands, his wrong deeds fall from them until they fall from beneath his fingernails. When he wipes his head, his wrong deeds fall from it until they fall from his ears. When he washes his feet, his wrong deeds fall from them until they fall from beneath his toenails. Then his walking to the mosque and his prayer give him extra reward.“ ( Related by Malik, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and al-Hakim .) </li></ul>

The Great Reward of Wudu <ul><li>In another hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah: </li></ul><ul><li>“… They said, &quot; How will you know the people of our nation who will come after you , O Messenger of Allah?&quot; He said, &quot;If a man has a group of horses with white forelocks amidst a group of horses with black forelocks, will he recognize his horses?&quot; They said, &quot;Certainly, O Messenger of Allah.&quot; He said, &quot; They (my brothers) will come with white streaks from their ablutions , and I will receive them at my cistern...&quot;' </li></ul><ul><li>(Related by Muslim.) </li></ul>
