Early years Charles Dickens was born the 7th of February of 1812 in Landport, England. He was the second of eight children. His father was imprisoned because he had a lot of debts. Most of the family went to live with Mr. Dickens in prison, but Charles was taken in by another family and went to visit his father on Sundays.
Dickens had many jobs during his life.When he was 12 years old he startedworking in Warrens boot-blackingfactory. In 1827 he began to work ina law office . He also worked in TheMonthly Magazine, where he began topublish short stories such as his firstnovel, The Pickwick Papers, in March1836. His success as a novelistcontinued, producing Oliver Twist
On 2 April 1836, he married Catherine Thomson Hogarth (1816–1879), the daughter of George Hogarth, editor of the Evening Chronicle. They had ten children. Dickens got divorced from his wife in 1858. In the Victorian age,
