  2. 2. In preparation for a trip to Europe In this presentation we are going to tell you what is good to know before a longer trip and things that you should take with you.
  3. 3. Learn a bit of the language It's important to know useful phrases in the language of the country you are staying in for an extended time. • To learn a language; you can for example take a language course, study in books or you can study the language on internet
  4. 4. Check if your passport is valid • If it's not, do this: • Go to a photographer who will take a picture of you and send it electronically to the police station • Fill in an application on internet at www.poliisi.fi/arendehantering • Attach the picturecode which you got from the photographer to the application • Pay at the internetbank • Sometimes the electronic way isn't enough, then you need to go to the police station yourself to give a fingerprint
  5. 5. Book a flight ticket • You can book them on internet for example at momondo.fi • You'll need a credit card when you do it
  6. 6. Money • You can have cash and an Electron card • Check the currency of the country
  7. 7. Clothing • Check the weather in the country and according to that you can choose the best kind of clothes
  8. 8. Vaccines • Depending on the country you are visiting you can google it on rokote.fi • If you for example are travelling to Spain they recommend that you check the following vaccinations: • diphtheria vaccine, tetanus vaccine, vaccine against
  9. 9. Get to know each other • Contact your host family before the trip • You can send pictures of your family, friends and hobbies for example
  10. 10. Hygiene products and medicines • Don't forget your hygiene products and medicines • For example toothbrush, shampoo and other personal items and medicines that you'll need
  11. 11. Need of disinfection • The hygiene maybe is not always the best in your destination
  12. 12. Weather • Check the weather before you travel
  13. 13. Get familiar with the culture • Read some information about the culture and rules in the country.
  14. 14. Post-it cards • Pack with you post-it cards. It helps you to learn the language

  25. 25. Medication • Take your personal medication with you if you need any.
  26. 26. Desinfectives Remember to wash your hands and use desinfectives now and then .
  27. 27. Post-it notes • It is good to take with you post-it notes, so you can write down the words you've learned during your stay.

DURING THE TRIP You need  a phone that works & a charger for it so you can call or send messages.  a special SIM card if you stay abroad for a longer period  to stay in touch with your group so that you know what your group is up to and you don't get left out of anything interesting  a map, in case you get lost so you'll know where to go  to keep an eye on your belongings so you don´t leave anything behind
  29. 29. Remember always to  be outgoing, social and open to try new things  have a good behaviour and to be polite  appear in time so you don´t miss out on anything  Be careful in case you have any allergies  sleep as much as possible so you're able to enjoy your stay in every possible way!

It's important to  not be afraid to speak with strangers in order to learn about their culture  teach your new friends some Swedish  use clean clothes to maintain good hygiene and feel fresh  remember to drink enough bottled water every day  eat the food that´s being served  protect yourself from the sun
  31. 31. Don't forget  To be both physically and mentally present in the country you visiting - "When you're in Spain, you're in Spain!"  That it isn´t polite to be on your phone when with others  To enjoy your trip so it becomes a fun experience!
