Introduction
™™ Many developing countries lack trained staff
and thus face major problems in proper
management of genetic resources.
™™ Training activities at ICRISAT genebank
include building capacity and skills of NARS
partners so they conserve plant genetic
resources efficiently.
™™ Since the year 2000, ICRISAT genebank
personnel have trained more than 40
personnel, including interns (12), research
scholars (12), research fellows (12), visiting
fellows (2), in-service short-term candidates
(2) and several visiting scientists from
national and international genebanks, NARS
and universities in 11 countries.
™™ Developed a series of lectures, presentations,
web-based information and pamphlets to
popularize conservation of plant genetic
resources.
