Heat Shock Transcription Factors (HSFs) In Pearl Millet: Identification and charecterisation

  1. • As a response to heat stress, plants rapidly accumulate HSPs which are regulated by the heat shock transcription factors (HSFs). • Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.)R.Br.) is an important crop of arid and semi-arid regions. • Recently, availability and access to the pearl millet genome opened an opportunity to study the HSFs present in its genome. • The present study was aimed to identify and characterize the HSF genes in pearl millet. Heat Shock Transcription Factors (HSFs) In Pearl Millet: Identification and charecterisation Sai Bindu KC1,2 , Roja Rani A2, Pooja Katiyar1, Mahendrakar MD1,2, Bajaj P1, Srivastava RK1* 1 International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad, India. 2 Department of Genetics, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. *E-mail: r.k.srivastava@cgiar.org • Non-redundant nucleotide and amino acid sequences of rice, sorghum, wheat, Arabidopsis, foxtail millet and maize were collected from the NCBI, GRAMENE, and TGIAR databases. • GENSCAN was used for amino acid sequence analysis. • Conserved motif analysed by MEME tool. • GSDS was used for gene characterization. • WoLFSPORT for finding out transmembrane helices. • Clustal X2 for multiple sequence alignment using default parameters. • NLS and NES were predicted using NLStardamus and Net NES. • Phylogenic tree analysis using MEGA 7 software. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT CONCLUSION A total of 213 sequences belonging to different species were searched for sequence similarity with pearl millet genome in NCBI database . A total of 66 genes were identified coding for 17 HSF genes and 49 HSP genes. RESULTS Table 1. Details of HSFs identified in pearl millet Figure 5.
