Context and Need <ul><li>Enabling medical researchers to conduct clinical trails in a more automated way </li></ul><ul><li>Pre-trail : Setting up the test group, using a (single) query that specifies the requirements for the subjects of the study </li></ul><ul><li>During the tria l: automate the gathering of the necessary research data, in a standardised way, making it accesible to the researcher and the treating MD in a uniform way </li></ul><ul><li>Post-trial : Storing, disseminating and conserving gathered data </li></ul>

Research Goals (challenges, draft!) <ul><li>Secured access to medical records for clinical trials, on a Belgian scale, preferably using existing authentication/exchange platforms </li></ul><ul><li>Data mining and statistical modules to support data gathering for clinical trials </li></ul><ul><li>Investigate effectiveness of data anonymising technology for electronic health records, for textual information and in multimedia files (pictures/video) </li></ul><ul><li>Providing a regulatory/legal framework to cover the remaining privacy risks. </li></ul><ul><li>Building a demonstrator </li></ul><ul><li>Investigate possibilities to expand the solution across EU member states </li></ul>
