  1. 1. 4 APRIL- 10 APRIL’111. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them. Whenyou are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they aresaying, while imitating the accent and rhythm of their speech.2. Until you learn the correct modulation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down. If you speaktoo quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard timeunderstanding you. Dont worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it ismore important that everything you say be understood.3. Use the dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say. Usedictionary for the purpose of getting the new words & their meanings.4. Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone whospeaks the language well to pronounce them for you. Record these words listen to them and practicesaying them. Listen and read at the same time.5. Pronounce the ending of each word. Pay special attention to S and ED endings. This will help youstrengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.6. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day in front of a mirror. This activity will definitelyhelp you in improving your modulation as well as boost up your confidence well.7. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes. Many people hate to hear the soundof their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercisebecause doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.8. Be patient. You can change the way you speak but it wont happen overnight. You can change theway you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it.REFERENCE: http://www.rediff.com
  2. 2. 1. Dress SharpWhen you don’t look good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people. Usethis to your advantage by taking care of your personal appearance. In most cases, significantimprovements can be made by bathing and shaving frequently, wearing clean clothes, and being awareof the latest styles.2. Good PosturePeople with slumped shoulders and lethargic movements display a lack of self confidence. They aren’tenthusiastic about what they’re doing and they don’t consider themselves important. By practicinggood posture, you’ll automatically feel more confident. Stand up straight, keep your head up, and llymake eye contact.3. Personal CommercialOne of the best ways to build confidence is listening to a motivational speech. Unfortunately, opportunities to listen to a great speaker are few and far between. You can fill this need by creating apersonal commercial. Write a 30-60 second speech that highlights your strengths and goals. Then 60recite it in front of the mirror aloud (or inside your head if you prefer) whenever you need a confidenceboost.4. Compliment other peopleWhen we think negatively about ourselves, we often project that feeling on to others in the form ofinsults and gossip. To break this cycle of negativity, get in the habit of praising other people. Refuse toengage in backstabbing, gossips and make an effort to compliment those around you. In the process, you’ll become well liked and build self confidence. By looking for the best in others, you indirectly bringout the best in yourself.
  3. 3. 5. Sit in the front rowIn schools, offices, and public assemblies around the world, people constantly strive to sit at the backof the room. Most people prefer the back because they’re afraid of being noticed. This reflects a lack ofself confidence. By deciding to sit in the front row, you can get over this irrational fear and build yourself confidence. You’ll also be more visible to the important people talking from the front of the room.6. Speak upDuring group discussions many people never speak up because they’re afraid that people will judgethem for saying something stupid. This fear isn’t really justified. By making an effort to speak up atleast once in every group discussion, you’ll become a better public speaker, more confident in yourown thoughts, and recognized as a leader by your peers.7. Work outAlong the same lines as personal appearance, physical fitness has a huge effect on self confidence. Ifyou’re out of shape, you’ll feel insecure, unattractive, and less energetic. By working out, you improveyour physical appearance, energize yourself, and accomplish something positive. Having the disciplineto work out not only makes you feel better, it creates positive momentum that you can build on therest of the day.REFERENCE: http://www.pickthebrain.com
