1. How is the audience addressed
in my media production?
2. The target audience for our thriller
are middle/high class teenagers and
young adults. They are attracted in
several ways.
Firstly, our actors are the
representations of what mainstream
teenage audience considers
attractive. The athletic football
player and a cheerleader have been
used as sex symbols in many teenage
oriented films.
3. Secondly, our actors are 17-18 year
olds who represent the age bracket of
the targeted social group.
Thirdly, the film is set up in a
boarding school/college which
attracts teenage audience as these
are the places they are highly familiar
with. The fact that it is a boarding
school will attract higher class
audience
4. Also, our sequence suggests
sex which is a popular topic in
teenage movies (the audience
supposes that this is what
they are going to see in the
end of the opening sequence,
because of the way we edited
the sequence and the shots
that were selected.
5. There is also a very violent
killing scene in the end of
the sequence, which is
quite stereotypical for
modern teenage oriented
horror productions such as
‘Saw’, ‘Hostel’ and ‘Texas
Chainsaw Massacre’.
6. All these factors address our main target
audience – teenagers and young adults aged
16-25. We think that we found a nice balance
between keeping to the modern formula of
successful horror and thriller productions and
introducing an unusual twist in the opening
sequence. Hopefully, this will attract our
target audience and make it watch the film.
