Research digipak

 1. 1. Digipak Research - Infernal “Wasteland”
 2. 2. First Group Draft

Taking the fact that our main message is “recycling “ the old to the new – regeneration, we thought that we should base our digipak ideas on this main idea in order to put a clear message across to the target audience

 3. 3. Front Cover

On the front cover we wanted to develop the idea of recycling further and therefore we are using the sign of recycling, they will be in the colours of mod – white, blue and red in order to reinforce the star image we are presenting –mod subculture in modern days

Within it we will be having a face, probably of Simon Cowell whose eyes and mouth will be ripped out with the album name “Wasteland” and the name of the band “Infernal”; we are signifying that the band's image is organic rather then synthetic like the star images created in “X-Factor” (we were influenced by the Sex Pistols and their album cover “God Save The Queen”); “Infernal” is not main-stream and we think that synthetic images need to be renewed;

 4. 4. Inside Cover

For the inside cover we thought of pursuing the idea of different faces needing to be “renewed”

We are going to present faces of famous main-stream musicians

The fact the faces will be in a garbage bin, the message of the band (“Wasteland” – name of album) will be it is a waste of the musician's talent being controlled by the Majors

 5. 5. Inside Cover

The other inside cover is contrasting with the glamour, famous faces

It is presenting a garbage metal lid - a metaphor for “closing” the faces, they are being restricted

It gives the digipak a feeling of completeness and pursuing of ideas we set up initicially

 6. 6. Back Cover

We wanted to reinforce the togetherness of the band by using a live performance picture of them in the junk yard

Their star-image is clear and the target audience should be attracted because their mod style will be clear (clothes) and the fact that they are mod/indie band

The influence we had was also based on the research of real band covers, such as The Who that also have used live performance images
