Planning You Film Sequence

  1. 2. <ul><li>A Family move into an old country house where years before a child was brutally murdered with a knife. </li></ul><ul><li>A group of teenagers who have just finished their GCSE’s take a trip to Newquay. They stay in a Youth Hostel which used to be a mental institution. </li></ul><ul><li>A woman and her friends stay at a spa for a relaxing weekend before her wedding. However her partner’s ex-wife is insane with jealousy and stalks her with the aim to kill her. </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>Title: Newquay </li></ul><ul><li>Tagline: Lemmings Cliffs </li></ul><ul><li>Location: Newquay </li></ul><ul><li>Based on tradition and deaths at Newquay 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>Why: Mental patients taking revenge because of their treatment at institution </li></ul><ul><li>Key Characters: </li></ul><ul><li>Charlie – leader of the group and confident. (dies) </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Steph – flirt, outgoing (looks for trouble) (lives) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Nicola – superstitious, drug taker (dies) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Chris – intelligent, cautious (hero) (Throws mental institutions documents over the cliffs – kills spirit of mental patients) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Milan – loyal, dating steph (dies for Steph) </li></ul></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>Nicola’s Grandfather used to own and supervise a mental institute but has converted it to a youth hostel. Teens arrive at youth hostel and settle down for the night. Nicola has a flashing vision of mental patient being taken into a room at the end of the corridor. </li></ul><ul><li>The patients souls are taking revenge on Nicola because of her Grandfather’s treatment of them. </li></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>Nicola has the reoccurring vision however it no longer flashes. Eventually she switches places with the mental patient and is taken into the room by ominous doctors; the mental patient is laughing at her. </li></ul><ul><li>She drinks and takes drugs to escape visions. She is near the cliffs with the group and she mistakes Steph for the mental patient; she attacks her with a broken bottle. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a struggle and Milan gets involved and is pushed over the cliff tops by Nicola after being slashed by the broken glass. </li></ul><ul><li>Steph runs to find help – Charlie. </li></ul><ul><li>Nicola distraught by her actions, her mind filled with mental patients attacking her, takes a kitchen knife from the hostel to protect her from the mental patients. </li></ul><ul><li>She tries to cut out her eyes to try and stop the visions; however she is stopped from doing so by Charlie. </li></ul><ul><li>Confused she turns the knife on Charlie and dismembers him. She throws his body parts over the cliffs. </li></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>Steph (emotional about deaths and horrified) turns to Charlie (he takes leadership). </li></ul><ul><li>They go into the room at the end of the corridor (Nicola had told them about her vision) and finds the mental institutions records in a draw. </li></ul><ul><li>There is a confrontation with a demented, blood thirsty and injured Nicola. Nicola slashes out with the knife, Charlie manages to turn the knife on Nicola and severs her arm. </li></ul><ul><li>Nicola catches up with Steph, again there is a struggle; however Chris manages to throw the papers over the cliff tops. </li></ul><ul><li>Nicola’s connection with the mental patients is removed. </li></ul><ul><li>Nicola collapses, shaking with pain and fear. </li></ul><ul><li>Nicola tragically dies at the cliff; leaving distraught Steph and Chris to mourn the death of their friends. </li></ul>
  6. 7. <ul><li>The film is based on a real occurrence in Newquay. </li></ul><ul><li>It subtly highlights the dangers of drink and drugs – Nicola. Steph would be the idealistic person to die, however she lives. </li></ul><ul><li>The film also involves gore. </li></ul>
