1. You can see the gritty, urban setting- where the film is based.
2. The low angel of this shot shows that Will Smiths’ character is of a
higher status at that particular moment. Also it zooms into the
swear word and along with what the characters saying it gives an
idea of what life's actually like there.

that the audience is acting like a ‘fly on the wall’ ‘through
the glass’. This could also show that this character is
feeling trapped and alone.

confrontation and all a bit awkward.

has been walking for a while, showing more of the
characters costume and an insight into his personality.
We can also see the homelessness giving the overall
impression that the area he lives in is not at all wealthy.
Just by the opening scene we can see this is not going to
