• The information system model shown on the slide highlights the relationships among the components and activities of information systems: People Resources . People are required for operation of all ISs. People resources include: End Users. As mentioned, these people use the IS or the information it produces. IS Specialists. These people develop and operate the IS. Hardware Resources . These include all the physical devices and materials used in information processing, including all machines and data media. Key components include: Computer Systems. These are the CPUs and their related peripherals, such as terminals and networked PCs. Computer Peripherals. These are input and output devices like keyboards, monitors, and secondary storage. Telecommunications Networks. These are the computer systems interconnected by various telecommunications media such as modems. Software Resources . These include all sets of information processing instructions. Software resources include: System Software. This controls the computer. Application Software. These are for a specific end user task, such as word-processing. Procedures. These are the operating instructions for the people who use the IS. Data Resources . Data is both the raw material of and among the most valuable organizational resources in the IS. Data can be in alphanumeric, text, image and/or audio form. Data are typically organized into either Databases - which hold processed and organized data; or Knowledge bases - which hold knowledge in a variety of forms such as facts and rules of inference about a given subject.
  • This figure gives you a good overview of the interrelatedness, interdependence, and integration of the e-business applications that are vital components of the successful operations and management of an e-business enterprise. This Figure represents an e-business application architecture, which illustrates the application components, interrelationships, and interfaces with customers, employees, business partners, and other stakeholders of an e-business enterprise. Notice how many e-business applications are integrated into cross-functional enterprise application clusters like: 1. Enterprise resource planning 2. Customer relationship management 3. Decision support. 4. Supply chain management 5. Selling chain management. Teaching Tips This slide corresponds to Figure 7.2 on pp. 216 relates to the material on pp. 216 - 217..

The Role of Information Systems in Business Today Management Information Systems Chapter 1 Information Systems in Global Business Today The Interdependence Between Organizations and Information Technology There is a growing interdependence between a firm’s information systems and its business capabilities. Changes in strategy, rules, and business processes increasingly require changes in hardware, software, databases, and telecommunications. Often, what the organization would like to do depends on what its systems will permit it to do. Figure 1-2

An information system creates value for the firm as an organizational and management solution to challenges posed by the environment. Figure 1-5 Information Systems Are More Than Computers

    18. 18. Sistem Informasi

    19. 19. Mengapa mempelajari SI & TI? Sistem Informasi : Teknologi Informasi: Adalah kesatuan sistem terdiri atas orang,h/w,s/w,jaringan komunikasi, sumber daya data yg mengumpulkan, mengubah, dan menyebarkan info dlm sebuah organisasi Adalah h/w, s/w, telekomunikasi, manajemen database, dan teknologi pemrosesan info lainnya yg digunakan dlm SI berbasis komputer SIM : adalah sistem pendukung manajemen yg menghasikan laporan, tampilan, dan respons yg telah dispesifikasi, secara periodik, khusus, berdasarkan permintaan dgn berbasis pelaporan wajib. (J.O’Brien)
    20. 20. Konsep Sistem manajemen SD Ekonomi: Orang,Uang,Bahan Baku,Mesin,Tanah,Fasilitas,Energi,Informasi Proses Bisnis: Pasarkan,Kembangkan, Produksi & Berikan Produk &Jasa, Dukungan utk Pelanggan Proses Lainnya Sistem Informasi Barang & Jasa: Produk,Layanan Pembayaran,KontribusInformasi Pengaruh Lainnya pengendalian input pemrosesan output Umpan balik Pemasok Lembaga Pemerintah Serikat Pekerja Pelanggan Lembaga Keu Masyarakat Pemegang saham Pesaing
    23. 23. The e-Business Application Architecture
    24. 24. CONTOH PERAN SIM Untuk industri secara garis besar SIM terbagi atas tiga section, yaitu section raw materials (bahan mentah), section processing, section selling (pasca produksi dan penjualan) dan section report. Masing - masing section terbagi atas beberapa sub section lagi.
