I may also add we need not only to identify influencers; equally important is the identification of the responsiveness of influencees.   • Interesting definition and example of the influencer, it will be great if the presentation is extended to include the tools and ways to develop this skill. I read one of the blogs on Harvard business review site before few months which interestingly stated that is essential to identify our primary influencing style (negotiation style, inspiring style..etc) and develop influencing style agility to improve our effectiveness to influence others;also to use the appropriate influencing style based on the situation, the people involved, what's at stake for everyone, and the organizational culture. again I believe we still need a systematic and proven way to develop & improve our influencing styles.

  • I agree with Gorg's comment, except that I think in these times of so strong tyranny of images and alienating submission to the media empire, consumers are not even allowed to be swayed. As Mephistopheles says in Goethe's 'Faust', 'The whole mob streams and strives uphill: one thinks one's pushing and one's pushed against one's will'. It's true, however, there are the ones who still know what is important and meaningful for them. But I would not call them ordinary consumers, but 'the happy few'
